ABOUT ME /US

Hi my name is Jo my husband’s name is Perry we are both retired.

We live in Wynnum and have been interested in house sitting for some time, my husband and I are keen to do more now we are retired.

I have in the past volunteered weekly for five years for the disabled at ARAD a respite day centre in Wynnum. And for the past 6 years have worked as a support worker I recently retired October 25

Previously my dog Busta (bull terrier) and I visited the elderly on a fortnightly/monthly basis at an aged care residence at Salvin Park in Mt Gravatt with the Delta Pet Partner Program for four years, I am proud to say Busta was one of the youngest dogs to be accepted into the program at 18 months he is sadly crossed the rainbow bridge at 14 in 2020.

We have also raised a Guide Dog (Ayla in 2016) with the help of Busta, Ayla who was chosen as an ambassador dog and we have also looked after other dogs who needed respite with QLD Guide Dogs I still volunteer as required.

We rehomed a failed guide dog in April 2024 - Dash will be 3 in April she is friendly and well trained as she completed a year in the QLD guide dog puppy raising program, we also have a miniature bull terrier pup Dot who is 1 in April - (she is a work in progress) we are happy to house sit as a family unit or individually if required for short stays as required.

I have a blue card and yellow card and have had the relevant police checks.

We are both non-smokers, mature honest and reliable, We are both positive, cheerful, tidy and make a good team we are respectful of other’s property and privacy.

We have owned and cared for many animals, I have bred and showed bull terriers and we have owned dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, pigs and chickens when we lived on our ten acre property in Coominya.

I believe all animals should be treated with kindness and love and be looked on as family members.

Through my volunteer work I have found it personally satisfying and rewarding to be able to help others and contribute to creating a better community for everyone to share. Read more...
