Juergen: A career spent in industrial chemistry, corporate leadership, and podcasting taught me that deep listening solves most problems before they begin. When I am out on country roads with my camera or on my bicycle, I notice the subtle details in a landscape. Back at base, that same patience means plenty of calm hours reading, writing, and sitting quietly beside your pets.

Gerti: Gerti spent years in early childhood education, where caring for resident animals was a central part of teaching empathy to young children. She has an instinctive eye for order, loves nurturing gardens, and brings steady warmth to every space she enters.

Our Foundation: A Life Shared with Animals

My kinship with animals started early. Growing up, our home was a lively sanctuary. I hold fond memories of our Shetland Sheepdog, Lassie, whose bright intelligence and loyalty set the benchmark for every pet that followed. Alongside Lassie were cats with distinct attitudes, curious garden lizards sunning on warm stone, and a chorus of wild birds that treated our trees as their own. Learning their calls, habits, and boundaries taught me that animals speak clearly when we take the time to tune in.

That thread ran straight through our adult life with our own cat companions, Tinka, Loki and Tascha. Living alongside them showed us that pets are not background fixtures; they are family members with moods, routines, and quiet preferences. They also taught us the dedication required when an animal depends on precise care. Tascha lived with asthma and a heart condition, which meant daily management: gentle, steady sessions with her asthma pump and spacer, alongside daily tablets hidden in treats or placed with care. That routine required patience, calm hands, and acute attention to small shifts in her breathing and comfort.

While we miss Tinka, Loki and Tascha dearly, the lessons they taught us remain part of who we are. They showed us how much an animal thrives on consistency: an unhurried morning cuddle, a secure sleeping spot, and a person who notices when something is amiss. We bring that exact vigilance, tenderness, and respect to your companions.
