I sold my home 18mths ago to invest in monetary assets. I am retired and enjoy the freedom of staying between my two adult daughters and their families in Brisbane, my best friend and elderly mum while in my home city of Melbourne and extensive overseas travel. I am very fortunate, not only because of the flexibility my life gives me, but the very important fact that it actually also suits me and I think I am probably a minority. My living arrangements would now allow me to incorporate house sitting into my lifestyle as I am rarely on a time schedule (except recently when my daughter had her second child and I made my way up to Brisbane days before her son’s birth) I can commit quickly when required and can often travel last minute if I am not needed anywhere. I was a schoolteacher and a carer in Melbourne in special needs, specifically Autism and Downs Syndrome. I love dancing, going to cafe’s and restaurants, drives to the countryside, travel of course and helping my friends and family. I was a wife and mother (well still a mother 😊) so organizing a home, looking after gardens and our pets was certainly very normal for many years. . I have zero health issues , am very active and also enjoy a lovely social life, however I always socialize outside the home as I don’t necessarily enjoy entertaining anymore.
