Hi Homeowners!
Myself Jacquelyn 26, partner Leighton 27, and our German shepherd Harlow 4, are nearing the end of our time in Australia. We have been here farming for the past almost 3 years, and have decided it’s time for us to return home to NZ.

Having recently finished seeding work for the season, we’re wrapping up at our final job over the next week or so, and are looking for a more relaxing end to our time here! Our pup has got about 6-7 weeks of preparation before we leave at the end of Aug/early Sep.

A bit about us: we are both animal lovers, and have worked with both cattle and sheep, as well as working dogs and horses during our time in Aus (and at home). We are competent in farm maintenance and unforeseen repairs to say the least! We’re both clean, tidy and respectful, and with our promise of leaving only footprints and taking only photos, have had nothing but positive comments when it has come to the end of our stay.

Housesitting experience
I (Jacquelyn) was introduced to pet-sitting as a child, when I would accompany my mum on house visits, and long term stays in the school holidays, looking after everything from cats and dogs, to fish and alpacas, and even a couple of peacocks, but Leighton has not yet experienced the pleasure!

Having flown the coop in Auckland at 19, I moved down to the South Island where I booked my first stay in Christchurch, the city which would become my new home. Here I cared for an old Burmese boy Bene, while maintaining the home and garden; what was meant to be 2 months quickly turned into 6, when NZ when into lockdown, and Bene’s mum suggested in extend my stay.

Over the next few years while living in Christchurch, I sat for neighbours, hockey team mates, and a couple of co-workers and family friends, then made the move further south to Central Otago, before meeting Leighton and deciding to make the move to Australia. Read more...
