I’ve recently moved to Queensland to be closer to my adult children, with my daughters living around Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I’m planning to house sit around these areas over the next few years, which gives me the flexibility to stay near my family while getting to know different parts of Queensland.

I’m originally from the UK and also lived in New Zealand for 20 years. I’ve worked in education for most of my career, including working for the New Zealand Ministry of Education, and I’m also a registered teacher in Queensland and Victoria. I now work online, so I spend a good amount of time at home.

I’m independent, reliable and very respectful of other people’s homes. I enjoy walking, the beach, coffee, reading and exploring locally, but I’m equally happy having a quiet day at home.

When I’m house sitting, I know I’m stepping into someone else’s home and, most importantly, their pets’ world. I’m happy to follow their normal routines, give them plenty of company and attention, and make sure home feels as normal as possible while their owners are away.

For extra reassurance, I can provide my Queensland and Victoria teacher registration, driver’s licence, DBS check, ACRO police certificate and New Zealand police check. I’m also very happy to have a phone or video chat before a sit.

As I’m planning my house sits in advance, I may be talking to more than one homeowner about the same or similar dates. If I don’t hear back, I do need to keep looking so I can fill my calendar, rather than leave dates open while I’m waiting for a reply. If more than one sit works for me, I’ll confirm with the first homeowner who is ready to go ahead. Once we’ve both agreed on the sit, those dates are yours. I really appreciate clear communication, and I’ll always give you the same in return.
