Hello I’m Dave

I’m a solo sitter and an active self funded retiree. I am respectful, clean and tidy, a non smoker and non drinker

I love to travel in my caravan and take overseas trips, mixing it up with house, flat, apartment, penthouse, farm, small acreage, pet and plant sits.

My permanent home is in Dickson, Canberra. I have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren.

My beautiful wife Jackie and I started house sitting in 2022. We did our first house sit in Canberra to see if it worked and if it suited us. Sadly in late 2022 Jackie succumbed to cancer and passed away, hence I am now a solo sitter.

I love animals having had many dogs (Maltese Shitzus and a Jack Russell, now all deceased), cats a British Blue named George and a moggie named Puzzy, birds (cockatiels), guinea pigs, chooks, fish, alpacas, bore goats, and bees over the years with our children and at our 7 acre hobby farm.

I live a busy, but quiet lifestyle and take pride in caring for homes and animals with respect, consistency and attention to detail.

I understand how important it is for owners to feel comfortable leaving their home and pets in capable hands.

I'm passionate about providing care for pets and animals who need company and those that require regular medications. I understand the importance of routine and consistency, and I'll treat your pets with the love and respect, as their unconditional love is given in return.

I am an avid walker and happy to take your dog/s or cats (if they prefer) for walks if that is their regular routine.

I grew up on a 2,500 acre farm in mid NSW and am familiar with animal husbandry and the care of animals. We had sheep, cattle, pigs, horses, chooks, ducks, geese, sheepdogs, cats, birds and guinea pigs and our closest companions corgis and fox terriers.

Jackie and I had had our own 7 acre hobby farm in Bowning NSW for 6 years where we went for weekends and during the week.

We had alpacas, bore goats and mixed poultry and a 100 mixed fruit tree orchard which we planted out and grafted and had bees in hives for orchard pollination and honey.

I am a quiet and respectful person, like a chat. I am non smoking, non drinking, (although I enjoy an occasional glass of red - good for the heart).

I am a keen and active gardener, vege grower, a bonsai enthusiast, like walking, reading and bike riding and I’m a sudoku and crossword fanatic.

I am very involved in my adult children and 7 grandchildren’s lives, probably a lot less in the past 4 years as I’ve been doing a lot of international and domestic travel, and house/pet sits, but they know I am there when they need me.
