About this house sitting position in Abbotsford

Riverside apartment in Abbotsford – Looking after Hermann the Pug

I'm looking for a reliable, caring house sitter to look after my apartment and my lovely 9-year-old pug, Hermann, from 19 December 2026 to 2 January 2027

The apartment:

My home is a comfortable, two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment in Abbotsford, beautifully situated between Victoria Park and Yarra Bend Park, with spectacular, uninterrupted views over the Yarra River and surrounding parkland.

It's a lovely place to spend a couple of weeks over the Melbourne summer, with beautiful walking trails and green spaces right on the doorstep. Secure parking is available, and trains, buses, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants and bars are all within easy walking distance.

Meet Hermann:

Hermann is a 9-year-old pug with a wonderfully easygoing personality. He's friendly, affectionate and loves nothing more than a pat, a cuddle and some good company.

He's genuinely low-maintenance and doesn't require much exercise. Like most pugs, he's particularly sensitive to the heat, so he prefers to take things easy during warmer weather.

The main thing to know about Hermann is that he enjoys having people around. Ideally, he shouldn't be left alone for more than a few hours at a time.

As we live in an apartment, he also needs to be taken outside for all his toilet breaks, generally every 3–4 hours during the day. Beyond that, he's a very relaxed and undemanding companion.

What I'm looking for:

I'm hoping to find someone who genuinely enjoys dogs and would be happy spending plenty of time at home with Hermann. Hermann travels well, so if you'd like to take him out and about that's also not a problem. The arrangement would particularly suit someone who works from home, is retired, or simply enjoys a relaxed lifestyle.

Aside from looking after Hermann, I just ask that you keep the apartment clean and tidy and treat it with care.

I'd ideally like someone with previous house-sitting or pet-sitting experience and good references. I'd also be keen to arrange a meet-and-greet beforehand to make sure everyone is comfortable.

If you're looking for a peaceful, well-located Melbourne base over Christmas and New Year, with a charming little pug for company, I'd love to hear from you! Read more...
