About this house sitting position in ALBERT PARK
Cosy Victorian cottage, renovated (all mod cons including hydronic heating & robovac) in one of Melbourne's loveliest heritage streets, close to parks, beach & cafés. 20 mins by tram from CBD or Fed Square & galleries.
Two elderly, affectionate rescued dogs (13 & 15yo); three middle-aged low-fuss cats (7 - 10yo); plus up to 3 foster-cats; all need a genuine animal-lover to care for them for 4 days (4 nights). Their regular sitter is no longer available.
[Please note: the online reference I received regarding 'Luther' is for a house-sit I arranged at a rural property, for a large dog my whose rescue I was facilitating. That was not my house and the large dog - although doing well - is not included in this house-sit.]
Each day my two medium-size hounds need about 45mins to 1hr's walk, generally to Gasworks (off-leash) Art Park & back - mainly for their mental stimulation - plus 3-4 quick naturestrip visits (3-5mins) for toiletting. Due to their age, early history and current health, they both walk very slowly, on or off harness, requiring plenty of patience for lots of sniffing. Arkie needs time to sit and rest along the way, as she has a weak rear leg, but she's very brave and both love their time in nature and meeting people. Banjo enjoys charming other dogs, too.
Ordinarily, in their guardian's care, the cats would mostly go out each morning, return by lunchtime, & the be kept inside (cat flap locked) until the following morning. But with a new sitter, they'll need time to build trust & confidence, so are best kept inside for the first 3 days, at least. Some are so shy they'll rarely be seen during the first couple of days - they have a sunny retreat room upstairs - but the eldest foster is highly social and will happily spend as much time as possible on your lap.
This house-sit will suit someone who genuinely enjoys dog & cat company & will enjoy a few relaxed days taking in the natural beauty, heritage architecture and friendly atmosphere of Albert Park and its inner-city surrounds. The position will ideally suit one person who is retired or only works from home, but if you do need to work away from home on one or two days, that can be accommodated by a friend/dog-walker visiting.
I'm seeking someone with personal integrity, who is also a non-smoker & light drinker. Please don't apply if you're really only seeking a paid position; or will pull-out at late notice if offered a longer position elsewhere (as has occasionally occurred in the past). Your honesty and kindness will be reciprocated.
If you truly love and empathise with animals & enjoy a calming, comfortable home, this is the house-sit for you... Read more...
