About this house sitting position in ALDERLEY

Seeking a caring person 35+ who loves animals and especially loves and understands large dogs. I have a gentle 10-year-old greyhound, a gorgeous 2-year-old cattle dog who needs to be kept calm, an old blind duck, and 1 aged cockatiel.

High-set house in leafy suburb. There are nine external steps.

Located within a few minutes' walk of buses, trains, Coles, restaurants, cafes and parks.

The dogs get along well but have very different behaviours and needs. They will need to be walked individually, or, if you are a couple, they can be walked together.

Geoffrey is a senior greyhound who needs to be walked in the cooler times of the day. Around 20 mins is fine. He cannot be allowed to exercise (including running in the yard) after eating - this can be fatal. Exercise and walking can only be at least 2 hours AFTER eating or 30 mins BEFORE eating.

Felix is a two-year-old cattle dog who will has just completed his recovery from a major leg fracture. He'll need to be kept calm (no jumping or leaping).

Our sitter will need to follow our instructions for walking him to keep him safe. This includes not going up to, or greeting other dogs, on walks. He'll need to be walked at quiet times of the day (not when most people are out walking their dogs). You will have a person to call on if you have questions / queries.

Ms Duck requires feeding twice a day, and access to her pond when possible (without dogs in the yard).

Ms Grey requires changes in water and food daily, and the paper in the bottom of her cage needs changing about once a week.

The front and back yards will need mowing, and fallen branches etc picked up.

The downstairs is prone to puddles after heavy rains (do not need cleaning up but best to be aware that this happens). It is used only to store my car and for the washing machine.

I will discuss possible actions (such as moving my car to higher ground at the top of the street) if there is another adverse weather event such as occurred with the 2022 floods. Read more...
