About this house sitting position in Armidale

We have a four bedroom home on 20 ha. It is situated just 10 km from the centre of Armidale with lovely rural views. We would like someone to live in our home or their caravan/motorhome, if they prefer, and look after our house. This just requires feeding the fish in our pond a couple of times a week and mowing the lawn with a ride-on mower when required (this takes about an hour). This does not need to be done very often in the colder months. We have no other pets. There are sheep running on the property but they are on agistment and are cared for by their owner who will visit regularly to do this, but will keep out of your way.
The house has 4 bedrooms, one with ensuite, and a large family bathroom with shower and spa, large kitchen family room with wood fire, separate dining room, lounge room with open fire, billiard room and a large outdoor area and garden. The house has solar panels and 2 batteries, as well as solar hot water which covers most of the electricity charges. The garden is watered by an automatic system which would need turning off if there is a lot of rain and turning back on again when the rain stops. This requires moving 2 switches. The house runs on tank water collected from the roof while the garden and toilets runs on dam water. There would be a shed for a caravan (large enough to cover our 18 ft van) and a garage for a car. The house is heated by hot water radiators which are heated by a heat pump with solar boost and the fire in the family room which is very efficient. There is plenty of wood available which is already split and ready to use. There is no wifi available, as we use our phone which we will be taking with us. There is a mobile phone booster for the telstra network so always a full signal. There are 2 televisions and also a music system. As this is a longtime sit we ask that you pay for your electricity use. Most of it will be covered by the solar panels and battery. “We enjoyed our time in Armidale and we were fortunate to have a lovely mild winter. Nelly was a wonderful hostess and set us up with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a wonderful dinner, and masses of fire wood for both fireplaces. What a great base from which to explore the area. Pages of notes too that were so helpful,and good communications,over the entire 6 months. The looking after the gardens was nice and easy and a joy to see them come alive in spring. Even the goldfish were very easy to care for and so delightful to have them breeding. I've never had a hot house, but loved the veges and Nelly planted masses of snow peas for us...what a treat! We will always look back on our time with great joy and fondness. Thank you Nelly and Graeme for the fabulous opportunity. ”

“Nice farm & lovely people. I had a problem with spiders. The bed is good if you like them hard. Bedroom was very cold as it is at the end of the house. Living and kitchen areas very comfortable and lovely garden.”

We are sorry that you found the bed hard and the bedroom cold. We have had numerous house sitters and none have ever mentioned this, even a couple who looked after our house for 5 months from April to September right through the winter months when it is much colder. The spider you left in the container was identified as a black house spider. Quite harmless.
