Beachside Living & Care Assistant Opportunity (6-Month Minimum)

Looking for a great coastal base while putting your care background to practical use? We are looking for a reliable, friendly couple or two friends with nursing or caregiving experience to live on-site and assist with the daily care of a charming 90-year-old retired diplomat and his wife who is not needing any care, just some help.

Located just 250 metres from the beach, you’ll be living in your own separate, fully self-contained house on the property. It’s an ideal setup for working holidaymakers, backpackers, or overseas travellers with hands-on care backgrounds who want a comfortable place to call home by the ocean and only 1.5 hours from Melbourne, 20 minutes from Geelong and right at the start of the Great Ocean Road.

What the Role Involves

Daily Hours: 6 hours of total help per day, split between the two of you (3 hours each, with plenty of time left to enjoy the day!). Or however you would like to do it, if you want to alternate days, also an option, or have one person doing the care and another working, all possible.

Core Duties: Hands-on personal care (showering, dressing, hygiene), mobility assistance, friendly companionship, plus a bit of light housekeeping and basic garden upkeep.

On-Call Support: Being around on-site to lend a hand if unexpected emergencies crop up out of hours.

Paid Overtime: Any extra assistance needed beyond the 6 daily hours will be paid at an agreed hourly rate.

The Perks & Arrangement

Accommodation: Free rent in the private self-contained 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house in exchange for the daily 6 hours of care and household help.

Travel-Friendly: We’re happy to offer flexibility for you to take holidays or explore the region when family members visit to cover.

Commitment: We ask for a minimum stay of 6 months so everyone gets into a comfortable, easy routine.

A couple or two friends with genuine experience in nursing, aged care, or personal support.

People who don't mind rolling up their sleeves for a mix of personal care, light indoor chores, and basic outdoor tidying.

A warm, practical, and dependable attitude with good respect for personal boundaries.
