About this house sitting position in Bedfordale
Hello! We’re a friendly married couple living in beautiful Bedfordale in the Perth Hills with our much-loved Golden Retrievers. I work in healthcare and my husband works in manufacturing. We enjoy a relaxed lifestyle maintaining our acreage home and having fun with our fur babies.
Our 3 beautiful golden retrievers are an important part of our lives - gentle, affectionate, and happiest when they have someone kind and attentive around them to give them cuddles and play tuggy and do zoomies with on the land as well as long snoozes indoors.
We really appreciate sitters who are reliable, honest, respectful, and genuinely love dogs. Clear communication is important to us, and we’re always happy to stay in touch while we’re away to ensure everything is running smoothly.
We look forward to welcoming sitters who will enjoy and take care of our dogs and our home as much as we do. We recently moved from Brisbane to Perth but have lots of experience of sitters back in Brisbane for our home and dogs. We found it a very reassuring way of being able to go away when unable to take our pets with us, knowing they will be cared for in their own home. Sitters need to be experienced with caring for multiple large dogs and how to manage them with Aussie wildlife.
Our home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac, sitting on 4,598m2 with plenty of space, privacy, pool, multiple living spaces and positioned with open bushland at the back of the land.
Large country kitchen with Belling duel fuel oven, Nespresso Vertuo machine and pods, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dining/sitting/tv area as well as a seperate large tv room with the comfiest L-shaped sofa and another seperate living room with fireplace. (*All tvs are large modern smart tvs).
Sitters have a double bedroom with large bathroom and seperate toilet, ducted air con, seperate laundry room, store room, remote gate access to driveway, remote double garage and seperate covered carport for multiple parking spaces. Sonos sound system throughout the home and high-speed wifi. Septic waste tank system so household products are compatible with this and unable to flush feminine products down the toilet (need to be disposed in waste bin).
Outdoor covered patio with bbq’s*, dining and sofa areas with gorgeous views of the garden, pool, festoon lights, firepit* and open countryside at the back where the Roos graze. (*not for use when Fire bans on). Large 6x10m shed with home gym, variety of garden and home tools..
Multiple walking areas accessed from our back gate and locally, including Armadale Settlers Common, Churchman Brook Dam, Roley Pool Reserve and Araluen Botanic Park. Wineries, cider houses and the Hills villages all close by.
Although our home is semi-rural, there are plenty of amenities within 10mins drive including major shops, restaurants, cinema and the famous “Last Drop Elizabethan” pub is just down the road.
The newly upgraded train station is 10mins away as well bus links and major roads for quick access to Perth CBD and the stunning beaches within 30-45mins.
Dogs:
Breakfast 6am
Dinner 6pm
Athena:
Gabapentin 400mg capsule x 1 with breakfast and dinner
Proplalin 0.7mls syrup orally with breakfast and dinner
Cartrophen injection monthly with the vet.
Athena has terminal cancer and hip dysplasia but is doing amazing on treatment and is as sweet, smart and feisty with the boys as ever!
Apollo had hip surgery after he dislocated it early 2025 so a little slower, plus he’s nearly 11 now. But he’s a very happy boy now we moved to acreage and living his best years, just slower!
Cappy is intact still, gentle, goofy, sprints like a racehorse and loves playing fetch and football.
They all play really well together, with Cappy keeping Apollo and Athena young.
As we are on acreage, they do not need a regular walk especially the older 2. They love a trip to the beach and we make sure to go at quiet times being a gang of 3. The heat in summer means you need to be mindful of the hot tarmac and sand plus overheating.
We would prefer sitters not take them out for walks or to the beach until we know they are confident handling 3 large dogs. They are all good at recall but the boys can have selective hearing at times!
Luckily they have 1 and 1/4 acres at home and the joy of new people to play with, will be enough to make them want to snooze more than usual!
They have a doggie door in the laundry so they can come and go as they please in the day (currently they mainly chill inside in the air con!). We have only lived here for a few months and Roos do frequent the property, so for the safety of the dogs and Roos, we currently shut them inside overnight and only allowed outside supervised very early morning and dusk onwards at night.
Sitters will need to be aware of the septic waste tank system and disposal of feminine products in the waste bin not the toilet and using septic tank safe products (we will provide the general ones).
Due to the risk of bushfires in the Perth Hills, sitters will need to prepared for evacuation with the dogs, signed up to the Emergency WA app with notifications on to be informed of warnings of bushfires and what to do in an emergency.
We have evacuation kits, first aid kits and fire extinguishers and will have all information available on handover and be available to be contacted during the sit. Our neighbours are very friendly and will be helpful as needed. Read more...
