About this house sitting position in Belgrave Heights

Hey there! We’re looking for ideally a lovely single person or mature couple (but open to all options) to stay in our home and care for our two much-loved cats and fish while we head overseas for five weeks. Our place sits at the top of a hill in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, surrounded by forest and wildlife. It’s peaceful, full of character, and a wonderful spot for anyone who enjoys nature and quiet time in a beautiful setting.

Cats: They will both need supervised feeding once a day. The litter trays are to be cleared daily and cleaned weekly.
Fish: Cold water small fish in small tank. To be fed regularly and the fish tank cleaned at least once during stay

The house is cosy and comfortable, with ducted heating throughout, a wood heater for chilly nights, and air conditioning in both the living room and bedrooms. There’s good Wi-Fi and a huge deck on stilts that overlooks the distant forest — perfect for morning coffees or evening sunsets. You’ll often see horses, kangaroos, rosellas, kookaburras and cockatoos from the deck.

Ideally, we’d love to find someone based in Victoria who might be interested in future sits, but that’s not essential. Most important to us is that you’re responsible, caring, and genuinely love animals. Our two cats are friendly and easy company — they just like to be fed, cuddled, and kept safe while we’re away. The fish are straightforward.

We’re about a five-minute drive from shops, supermarkets and Tecoma train station, which will take you straight into the city. There’s also a fantastic local cinema and plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby. If you’re into wellness or alternative lifestyles, you’ll find yoga, reiki and similar options in the area too. Major shopping centres like Westfield Knox and Fountain Gate are only 20 minutes away, and there are so many gorgeous forest walks right on your doorstep.

The Dandenong Ranges are a truly special part of Victoria — filled with charm, character and beautiful places to explore. Nearby you’ll find Puffing Billy, Sherbrooke Forest, the 1000 Steps, Bunjil Place, Burrinja Cultural Centre, Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead and SkyHigh Mount Dandenong, just to name a few.

One important note — we live in a bushfire-prone area, so you’ll need to be comfortable preparing to evacuate (with the cats) if there’s ever an emergency or on declared Extreme Fire Risk Days. If needed, the cats can be safely placed in a local cattery. Read more...
