About this house sitting position in Bemerside

Hi, we're Charlice and George, and our sons Victor and Francois. We're heading to South Africa to see family over Christmas and are looking for a kind, reliable couple to make themselves at home at our place and look after our three much-loved dachshunds, Archie, Libby and Stella.

Home is a Bali retreat-style property at Bemerside, just outside Ingham in North Queensland, in a quiet valley at the foot of the rainforest-covered Cardwell Range, about 1.5 hours north of Townsville. The house is a group of white pavilions linked by covered walkways, set in lush tropical gardens on 3 acres. There's an open-plan kitchen, dining and living pavilion with big timber decks and mountain views, a built-in stone pizza oven, vegetable garden, fruit trees and a greenhouse. It feels like a little resort.

You'd have your own bedroom with an ensuite, plus full use of the kitchen, laundry, living areas, decks and gardens.

Meet the dogs: all three are 5-year-old dachshunds and great dogs. Libby (brown, smooth coat) is active and friendly. Archie (black and tan long-hair) is the protector, but he warms up to people quickly. Stella (smooth black and tan) is a velcro dog who'll want to be wherever you are. They're the heart of the family, so the most important thing to us is that they're happy, safe and loved while we're away. We'd ask for feeding, daily walks and company, keeping to their usual routine, plus keeping the house tidy and secure, collecting the mail and a little garden watering. Please be gentle with their long backs (no jumping off furniture or decks).

We're looking for a couple who are experienced with dogs, ideally small breeds, happy in a rural setting through the tropical wet season, and able to commit to the full sit over Christmas. A sitter with one pet is welcome, as long as it is friendly with our three dogs (no more than one pet please). References, a police check and a video call before confirming, please. There is a Ring doorbell camera at the front door.
