About this house sitting position in Bonny Hills

Our home is on two acres at the end of a short road, next to a nature reserve, yet within earshot of the ocean and just five minutes' drive to a choice of wonderful beaches.

There's a solar heated pool that needs daily cleaning and maintenance. We have a beautiful garden with flowers, ornamentals, vegetables and fruit trees. In addition there are pot plants to water. We have about an acre of lawn to mow, though this will be minimal during winter. Lawn mowing will require using our push and ride on mowers as well as our brush cutter.

If you have a van or motor home, there's plenty of room to park it.

The house and property are fragrance and smoke free zones.

“Thank you for your feedback. During my stay from late July to September, Bonny Hills experienced heavy rain and strong winds. The property required well over 20 hours of maintenance per week — not the 7–10 hours advised. The written instructions covered over 100 tasks, and I took videos of Peter explaining them before he left. Daily pool care alone often took 1–2 hours and up to 10 hours a week after storms. When I returned over a week later to collect my belongings, I sat and spoke with both homeowners for more than an hour, and no concerns raised at that time. I also left the home cleaner than when I arrived. Despite the challenging weather, the home and garden were well maintained throughout. I appreciated the experience but declined to sit again, as the workload was far greater than represented.”

Owners response
A very disappointing and untruthful response from someone who not only failed to care for our garden but should not have been a house sitter as she basically needed somewhere to live while she worked full time. There are not 100 tasks, rather we clearly articulated the details to enable her to do the tasks. Usually daily pool care takes less than 15 minutes but can take longer during adverse weather conditions. Not only was Connie untruthful in her review she also bad mouthed us to others in the area. Yes, Connie did clean the house well but necessary as she had her dog living in the house. Sadly of all the house sitters we have had over many years, Connie will always be remembered as the worst one. We should never have appointed her but we wanted to give her a chance as she had never house sat before.
