About this house sitting position in Bruce
Welcome to our beautiful Canberra home. We live in a beautiful two-storey townhouse in a quiet complex in a quiet, leafy suburb.
Requirements: cat care and the occasional water of plants.
About us:
We are a family of four - myself, my husband, my 5 year old son and our sleepy old cat Sookie. We love reading, watching films, listening to music, going on outings and exploring, and travelling to Newcastle and Sydney to visit our extended family and friends.
About our house:
We live in a spacious, cheerful townhouse, in a quiet, friendly, small and leafy complex.
Upstairs:
- 3x bedrooms - all with block out roller blinds and curtains.
- Main bedroom: queen-sized bed, ensuite with separate bath and shower, exercise bike, ceiling fan, tv and armchair, balcony with a little chair and table set, flowers and pot plants, and views overlooking the complex's leafy communal garden behind our courtyard.
- 2nd bedroom + large landing - our son's bedroom and play space.
- 3rd bedroom - set up as a study ( exercise bike, and an ensuite with bath and shower.and our son's lego room), and features a couch with a pull out bed.
- Main bathroom with separate bath and shower, and a separate toilet room.
Downstairs:
- Dining room with extendable dining table and extra chairs if needed.
- Fully equipped kitchen.
- Laundry room with washer, dryer, sink, cat amenities (kitty litter and food)
- Third toilet and sink area.
- Large lounge room with library area, tv and large couch, dvd collection.
- Secure garage with internal door - one space will be available to park in, though it is a narrow door. There is guest parking and some space to park in front of the garage doors if your car does not fit.
- Brick courtyard with covered entertaining area (featuring large outdoor table and chair set), established leafy garden beds and some pot plants, a large clothesline, and access to the side passage and the back communal garden.
Our home has ducted, zoned reverse-cycle heating and cooling throughout.
About our cat:
Sookie is a friendly, cuddly, quiet and low-energy 14 year old cat. She gets along well with people, but is terrified of dogs, and intimidated by other cats. Sookie loves nothing more than sleeping on our bed, or in the sun, or lazing outside into the courtyard with human company (she is not left outside unsupervised - we have many lovely native birds that visit our garden). She would be glad for pats and cuddles, but can also give people space when asked to, and is not usually particularly vocal. She is very gentle and does not scratch unless significantly provoked (e.g. by a dog), but can get a little... silly during her witching hour (she settles if ignored, but also loves to play with humans and her toys for short bursts).
Sookie enjoys a can of wet food every morning, with 3 potassium tablets crushed and mixed in - timings of these meals are flexible. She enjoys a measured cup of kibble each evening (she can get chunky if we aren't careful with the amount!).
About our area:
Our area of Bruce has lots of day and evening dining options, with pizza, pasta, Asian fusion, Korean, cafe food and more within a 5 - 10 minute walk. Bruce shops also features an IGA, two gp clinics, a dentist, and some specialist medical services. We are really well-serviced by public transport: within a 5 - 10 minute walk of our place you can also catch buses for quick journeys to the city, Belconnen mall, and Dickson (where you can also get on the light rail to go to Gungahlin etc.), and longer journeys to Woden, Tuggeranong and elsewhere.
Popular bush walking areas Bruce Ridge, Black Mountain and Gossan Hill are all close, accessible by a longer walk or short drive. If you prefer a more urban walk, Bruce is very walkable, with multiple walking and cycle paths around the suburb.
We are also a 2 minute drive from North Canberra Hospital, and close to multiple indoor swimming pools and gym complexes.
If you would like a quiet and easy place to stay in Canberra nearby to lots of amenities, with a friendly cat for company, we would love to chat to you about our home. Read more...
