About this house sitting position in Cairns North

We're looking for a house/dog/garden sitter for a week and five nights in October.

We have two dogs. One large Maremma (Melly) and one medium bitsa (Chilli). Both are easy care e.g. taken for a walk every second day, can be left alone for a maximum of 7 hours, in pretty good health, no special dietary requirements. They're both older dogs with arthritis and they spend most of their time indoors sleeping under the aircon during the warmer months.

We live in a lovely Queenslander on a quiet street. There is off street parking available and space for a caravan/campervan. We're in a great location:
- 3km from the town centre
- 1km from the Cairns Botanic Gardens, Tanks Arts Centre, and the Red/Yellow/Blue/Green Arrow rainforest walking tracks.
- 1.5km from Edge Hill restaurant strip
- 8km from the nearest beach
- 500m from Tobruk Memorial Pool
- 18km from Crystal Cascades

It can be hot and humid up here in October. So please keep that in mind before you make contact to express interest. The house is fully air-conditioned and we have solar power so we won't put limits on the times that you can use the aircon.

No children sorry. Chilli is a rescue who we suspect has a traumatic history with children. When he hears them being loud he hides, shakes, and stops eating. No other pets either sorry. Maremma's are territorial guard dogs and Chilli is wary around other dogs.

Public references on this housesitting site or other housesitting sites are essential. And a police check would be an added bonus.

We do not have a television so if that will be problem for you, please do not apply for the sit. We do have Netflix that you're welcome to log into and watch on a laptop/device.

We ask that you are available the day or night before we leave to come over for lunch or dinner to meet the dogs. Maremma's are wary dogs and they need time to meet people prior to being dog-sat. Read more...
