About this house sitting position in Churchable

House Sitter Wanted | Lockyer Valley | One Month | Escape Pending

I’m looking for a very special kind of human—calm, capable, and genuinely comfortable around animals. This is not a tick-the-box housesit. It’s a short-term stewardship of a peaceful, living farm while I’m away for a month.

The property is a 40-acre farm in the Lockyer Valley that largely runs itself, but it’s very much alive with animals and rhythms of its own. You’ll be sharing your days with eight well-trained dogs and a handful of cats. These dogs thrive on space, purpose, and routine, and they respond best to someone who understands animal energy rather than city rules.

Own transport is recommended due to the rural location (20 minutes to the nearest train station, 4 km to the closest bus stop).

You’ll be staying in a beautifully renovated old Queenslander, living upstairs in a private two-bedroom setup with large verandas overlooking the property. It’s quiet, grounding, and expansive. Mornings here are something special.

Daily responsibilities include:
• Feeding the cats twice a day
• Feeding the dogs once a day
• Walking the dogs for at least one hour daily on the property
• General presence and awareness of the animals and home

There is a dam about an eight-minute walk from the house. If you want to mix things up with an easy, alternative walk now and then, that’s welcome.

This home is rural in every sense. We run on tank water, space replaces convenience, and awareness replaces noise. It would not suit someone unfamiliar with rural living. Previous house sitters have had wonderful experiences, only one was out of her comfort zone. Taking this on, I now provide you to arrive a few days before we set off. This allows for you to settle in to the routine and get familiar with a detailed, easy-to-follow guide for caring for the animals so you’re fully supported.

I also run a hobby farm with horses and pigs; however, these animals will be attended to separately and are not part of your responsibilities.

If you love animals, respect the land, and enjoy a slower, more intentional way of living, this could be a beautiful fit. Please reach out with a bit about yourself, your experience with animals, and why this housesit speaks to you—I’m far more interested in the right energy than a perfect résumé.

Connectivity & Comfort
Starlink internet is available with an extender, providing coverage up to 300 metres from the house—perfect for remote work across the property. Chromecast is provided for relaxed evenings and easy streaming.

A Creative’s Haven
This property is a quiet, inspiring space for photographers, content creators, and artists. Light, land, animals, and sky offer endless opportunities for storytelling.
• An outdoor art studio opens onto a private courtyard and includes garden space suitable for hard tools, large movable glass tables, and easels.
• Starlink internet with extended coverage allows remote work from the studio, courtyard, or anywhere on the property.
• Rural, peaceful, and flexible—a place designed for making, not just storing ideas.
