About this house sitting position in Dodges Ferry
My home is a comfortable single-level house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of the bedrooms set up as a home office. I’m looking for someone happy to stay in the spare bedroom (so I don’t need to move out of mine). It features a new queen-sized bed, built-in wardrobe, and you’ll have the main bathroom to yourself.
The property runs on a rainwater tank. I’ve never had any issues with supply, but I do ask that you’re mindful of water use. Heating is via a wood fire and a heat pump; as it’s winter, I’d appreciate a contribution toward the power bill.
There are a few raised garden beds and potted plants that will need occasional watering and light weeding. It’s generally low maintenance, especially in winter with regular rainfall. The lawn may also need mowing and whipper snipping if required.
The location is a real highlight — there’s a beach at the end of the street (perfect for a dip at low tide), along with plenty of walking tracks nearby. A surf beach is just 1.8 km away, with a couple of great cafés close by, and plenty of other beaches to explore in the area. Convenience-wise, there’s an IGA (Hills Street), butcher, chemist, bakery and bottle shop all within 500 m, and a local pub about 1 km in the other direction. A car is recommended, as public transport in the area can be a bit slow and limited.
You’ll also be caring for my dog, Clover — a 20-month-old Labrador with plenty of energy. She comes from a working line, so she needs two walks a day (morning and evening). She has excellent recall and often walks off-lead on trails or at the beach. Clover absolutely loves the water and playing fetch.
She’s happy to be left at home during the day provided she’s had her walks, and there’s a doggy door for easy access. She’s generally very submissive with other dogs and may occasionally chase a rabbit, but she responds well to commands. Most of all, she’s very affectionate and loves plenty of pats and cuddles.
