About this house sitting position in Eltham
Super Sweet 6 year old Rottweiler needing live-in carer for just under 2 weeks.
Hi there,
We are looking for a caring, reliable person or couple to stay in our comfortable home from Sunday 21 June until Saturday 4th July to look after our beautiful big rottweiler, named Chief.
This sit would ideally suit someone who works from home, a retired or semi-retired couple, or possibly a uni student studying mostly from home, as our boy is currently an only fur child and is happiest when he has company for most of the day.
He does not require heavy exercise, we can assign a professional walker to come every 3rd day or fourth day - but a short, daily walk at his sniffing everything pace around our immediate block after an early dinner and before dark would be wonderful and will greatly assist in tiring him out some to make for a peaceful and easy night.
That said, if you are experienced & completely comfortable handling larger breeds, and would genuinely enjoy taking him on longer 30-40 minute walks, you are very welcome to do so, provided you can follow the basic walking protocol and set commands we use with him. We have put a lot of training into desensitising him to certain triggers on walks that we occasionally encounter on our daily walks (including electric scooters - rare, noisy work utes with rattly trailers, and one or two other things. That said, we absolutely loves people and loves a pat from anyone willing to give him one along the way as he is a very social and loving dog. We have specific instruction in a "all about Chief" manual to help keep him calm, focussed and comfortable whilst out and about.
He is a very sweet, eager to please and be loved, and occasional playful dog with a big and beautiful heart. Incredibly loving and loyal and he enjoys pats and a little low exercise play if he feels up to it, a gentle groom whilst sitting beside you and he loves you talking to him and reassuring him that he is a good boy, and simply just being near his people.
His only down side is that he has a bit of a "plumbing issue" and drools terribly whenever food is around! He also gets very excited for the first minute or so when meeting people. He settles down pretty quick and responds well to calm and warm encounters.
Ideally, we are looking for someone confident and experienced with larger breeds, who understand their strength, presence and desire to protect their pack and can provide him with calm, consistent and gentle care. Keeping him settled and relaxed is most important to us, as he had 2 cruciate ligament surgeries over the last 4 years and we do not want him overexerting himself or running around.
Our boy is very much an indoor dog (only goes out for pees, walks, etc), who sleeps inside every night and prefers to sleep close to his pack. He has access all areas in the house, including our main bedroom where he has his own bed, and our sons bedroom day and night.
You are welcome to stay in our bedroom where he prefers to settle at night, or there is a lovely guest bedroom with a separate ensuite for your comfort and, if you are comfortable allowing him to come into your room to check in on you, that's wonderful - although most likely he wont bother you at all there. Its just simply reassuring for him if the doors are left open at night, so he knows his people are nearby and he is not feeling lonely or isolated.
Our home is close to all shops, cafes and transport hubs and has all the creature comforts, including Netflix, Stan and Prime, so you can relax and feel at home during your stay.
There is a well-paid for daily rate on offer for the right applicant, and your favourite staple foods will initially be provided to start you off, along with a little thank you gift from Cheif for caring for him.
We also have amazing neighbors and a wonderful community surrounding us. A fully detailed manual covering all his routine, care, walking protocol and ny of his quirks will be availble onsite to help you get to understand him and make your stay smooth and comfortable as possible for both you and our sweet boy.
We are also available 24/7 should you ever need assistance or have any questions relating to the house or Cheif. Occasional photos and updates would be greatly appreciated by us as we will miss him.
If you are a homebody who enjoys the company of a loving, loyal, happy and incredibly sweet boy, and can provide the gentle reassurance, companionship and affection he thrives on, we would absolutely love to hear from you.
Thanks :) Read more...
