About this house sitting position in Engadine, Sutherland Shire

Hi and welcome!

I am seeking a single person or a couple to apply for this sitting, as I only have one bedroom to offer which is a big king size bedroom downstairs.
It's spacious and very comfortable.

I am going to be away leaving on the morning of Monday 21st December 2026 returning around lunchtime on Tuesday 29th 2026.

So please kindly arrive anytime from late morning to lunchtime on the 21st and be out by 11:00am on Friday 29th.

I have 2 lovely cats ... Saydee is my 16 yr old girl.
Simba is a 10 year old boy.
They both love human company and cuddles.
They are very precious to me! ❤️😻❤️

They need water top ups each day with a water bowl upstairs and one downstairs ... as well as feeding twice a day and their kitty litter which gets cleared twice a day or when they leave smells in the tray, so your space remains smelling fresh.

Both cats are kept indoors in the peak of summer, with the kitchen back door closed, to avoid them venturing out and having encounters with snakes in the bush.

I let the cats go outdoors on the front lounge balcony in the morning with that door being left partially open all day, until I close them in from 3pm to 4pm latest.
Touch wood, so far in 11+ yrs I've always been safe leaving my upstairs front deck door open all day.

The downstairs doors must have the fly screen doors closed and latched at all times, to ensure no unwelcome visitors from the bush & strangers (so far that hasn't happened)

If you're going to be out late and can't get back in time to close them in, it's okay to leave them locked inside for that day.

They are both terrified of thunderstorms so if I'm home I try get them inside from the lounge balcony before a storm hits.

I have created comprehensive house sitters manuals, one for upstairs and one for downstairs that has the feeding regime in it.
It includes photos of the beautiful wildlife we've had visit in our street and yard over the years that I've lived here.

We have a train line T4 that runs from Bondi Junction to Wollongong and Kiama.
A local Engadine bus runs half hourly during the day hours, however my home is 4.8 kms from the main town so having a car would be best, unless you don't mind catching the bus which is a short walk down the road.

I'm a 10 minute drive to Audley Weir in the Royal National Park, with its lovely café and the beautiful beaches.
I'm 1/2 hr drive to Cronulla, Bundeena & Wottamolla Beaches and 35 minutes to Thirroul Beach.
There's lots of lovely local eateries and take-away shops for 'foodies.'

The gardens are well manicured by my gardener who is supposed to come over once a week, usually on either a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
If he doesn't turn up, I'd sincerely appreciate you noting 'No Show' on my kitchen calendar.

I have a cleaning lady who comes over once a week on a Friday afternoon for 2 to 3 hours.

I would appreciate you watering my pot plants on the front deck and rear garden deck daily if it's very hot, or 2nd daily if it's not.

I have aircon in my upstairs lounge, and in my downstairs lounge/ office/ art studio.
The downstairs area is much cooler as it has a lovely rock face cliff in the back yard.

I have a lovely downstairs large bedroom overlooking the back garden, which has a king sized bed, just off the downstairs lounge/ art studio.
It has a heater and a fan in the room plus the aircon in the adjacent art studio/ downstairs lounge.

I do ask guests to sleep in that downstairs large bedroom in the king size bed, and not to access my upstairs bedrooms at all, which I don't like people using. I sincerely appreciate compliance with this request.

I have an internal laundry with a washing machine and an extra fridge/ freezer. The cats frozen meat is kept in the freezer and needs to be taken out 2 meals ahead to defrost in time. They also love a bit of Whiskers meat.

I ask you to please 'Not Use my tumble drier' as it racks up a huge electricity bill.
In place of the drier, I have an outdoor wash line when it's not raining and separate to that, I have an internal wash line and a laundry hanging rack in the downstairs area, with coat hangers for shirts and tops.

There's a toilet and sink in the downstairs internal laundry/ utility room, which can be used overnight but most guests prefer to use the main bathroom which is directly upstairs from that large bedroom. There's dish liquid and hand soap in the small cupboard above the laundry sink.

Parking is in the driveway, in front of the house or safe off-street parking, alongside the bush front side of the road, as homeowners on the opposite side like to park their own cars in front of their homes.

The garage is not to be accessed at all please and thank you. I sincerely appreciate compliance with this request too.

I have very decent, friendly neighbours who won't disturb you, but who you can reach out to if you need to.

I have Foxtel in the upstairs lounge and the downstairs king sized bedroom, with instructions in the upstairs manual, including the password to my unlimited internet with Telstra.

I am looking for a house sitter who isn't travelling with pets. My yard is open with no fencing so unfortunately no dogs and I'd prefer no other cats either, as I'm not sure how mine might react to other cats.

I have a lovely neighbour who can pick up cat minding if there's a day or two that you can't manage in my time frame but I need advanced notice to negotiate with her.
