About this house sitting position in Evanston
We are a very friendly couple (non-smokers) who love travelling - we aim to have a holiday overseas once a year and we have chihuahuas (well trained & very friendly). We are after an experienced and professional sitter who loves chihuahuas and and are happy to come look after our chihuahuas while we travel, we are new to this web site, we need time to explore to understand how it works, thank you for your patience.
Our home has two bedrooms, 2 showers & a bath tub, not a big house, but we love our cosy home which is filled with love ❤️ Our home is walking distance to a train station which has trains to both city & Gawler Town. You can walk to Gawler town if you like (I enjoy doing so on a beautiful sunny day, it takes me about 20-30mins). You can drive to beautiful Barossa towns which are not very far (the closest ones are about 15mins), Barossa is world famous for red wine (we looove shiraz from there!), if you dont want to drive to Barossa for the wine, our local Dan Murphy has heaps nice wine from all over Barossa, at affordable prices. To Adelaide city on the highway, about 30-40mins. Around us, we have shops, supermarkets, cafes... walking is fine, apparently driving is faster (within only 3 or 4 mins). I fell in love w/ gardens and plants in a recent year, I started buying plants and pots like a serious addiction (lol) - our garden isnt big but its been filled with many plants and going to get greener and greener over time - many plants are native plants and drought tolerant, but watering them a bit more frequently will be great if the weather gets warmer and warmer. Its nice to sit in the garden to watch birds in the trees and enjoy the plants (whilst sipping a home made coffee from our coffee pod machine).
We have 6 adorable chihuahuas - 4 boys 2 girls, they are well trained and very friendly to people. Some are super clingy and spending time with us (and our guests) on the couch, some are more than happy to stay in their beds most of time. They dont need any medication, they get fed twice a day with dry food & wet food (morning and late afternoon), we give them some snacks once or twice - we usually do so when we leave home for work. During our absence, you may want to take them for a walk once a week (if one sitter comes to stay in our house, walk wise - 2 chihuahuas at a time rather than 5 chihuahuas at a time - one of them doesnt like going out. 5 is hard to manage outside, especially if anything happens in terms of their safety, such as encountering big dogs that may be off the leash on the street or in the park) . They dont randomly bark, they do that when someone is at the door or very close to the door/the driveway, 4 out of the 6 love to sleep in my partner's bed at night, the other 2 sleep in the front dog bed (they sleep well, occasionally some might go to the pee mats for a pee). We use pee mats for them in our laundry area (for their "private businesses"), we use 2-3 pee mats at a time which is big enough for 6 chihuahuas, pee mats are changed twice a day or maybe 3 times a day, depending on their frequency of peeing and pooping, we do so in the morning after we get up and do it again late afternoon or in the evening. If we are home all day, we do it as soon as we see it - it's our "homegym workout", haha :) Water is accessible thru automatic dispenser, we keep an eye on it and fill it with pura tap drinking water every couple of days, which is very easy. Overall, its not a lot of work - i.e. On a daily basis, it would be great if you can help us offer them a meal (wet food) twice which is in the morning & late afternoon, also some dog snacks twice :)
We love to meet and greet our potential sitter prior to a confirmed sitting as it's important for both parties to know each other (including our furkids). Once a sit is confirmed, you are more than welcome to come stay with us one or two days before we leave, so that you can familiarise with the routine in terms of taking care of our furchildren, of course I will cook some of my yummy Chinese dishes (I am a Chinese migrant by the way, proudly calling Australia home).
A valid ID is essential & a current valid Police check is a bonus. If you have 5 star reviews & are very experienced, that certainly make us want to have you :) Thank you for your time in advance!
