About this house sitting position in Gladesville

We have a lovely, comfortable home in Sydney with two bedrooms, plenty of space, a gorgeous verandah and a beautiful outlook over our garden. There’s also a separate granny flat downstairs, where a friend lives.

We have a 9-month-old Border Collie, who turns one in December. She is an incredibly sweet, well-natured girl. You’ll fall in love with her instantly! She does have plenty of energy, though, and loves attention and being around people.

She usually needs two walks a day, both around an hour. We’re lucky to have two wonderful dog parks just a two-minute walk from the house, as well as lots of great walking spots nearby. She is great off-leash and loves playing fetch with a ball. At home, she has plenty of tug toys and enjoys a good play, but she also sleeps quite a lot during the day, so you’ll have plenty of time to get on with work or enjoy your own time.

I’m usually home with her most days, leaving her for around 2–5 hours only when I have appointments or other things to do, so ideally we’d like to keep her routine fairly similar. She is, however, completely comfortable being left at home for up to around 7 hours once or twice a week if needed.

Of course, you’d also need to feed her and give her lots of love and attention. We’d ideally love someone who is a real dog person and has experience looking after dogs. Our girl is very easy-going, but she’s also a young Border Collie with lots of energy, so having someone who understands dogs, their behaviour and what they need would be really important to us.

We’d also really appreciate someone who can keep an eye on our plants and veggies while we’re away - watering the indoor and outdoor plants as needed. Otherwise, it’s simply about enjoying the home and leaving it clean and tidy, as you found it.

Ideally, we’re looking for one person or a couple to stay for the full duration. We’d love someone who isn’t looking to spend all their time sightseeing, but would enjoy settling into the house, spending time with our dog and enjoying the neighbourhood and everything the area has to offer.

We leave on the 9th, so I’m planning to spend some time on the 8th showing our house sitter around the home and the local area, and introducing them properly to our pup. Read more...
