3 Months in Gladstone

Opportunity for a single or couple to do a three-month house/pet sitting stint in sunny Gladstone, on the central coast of Queensland. Dates are 25 February to 26 May 2025 inclusive.

Ideally we are looking for at least one person who does not work (or WFH), so that they can be ‘home’ most of the time, as that is what our pets are used to.
We offer you rent- and bill-free living in a stylish and comfortable family home with a large inground pool, a five-minute drive to basically everything (parks, shopping, restaurants, etc).

In return we require you to look after our two Staffies (aged 5 and 10) and one inside cat. We need someone reasonably fit who is able to carry out some quite physical tasks regularly, including walking two active dogs, mowing the lawn, watering the garden and looking after the pool.

The animals are used to a regular routine, which we would like you to follow. While it’s fine for you to come and go during the day for short spurts, we don’t want them left alone for 8+ hours every day, hence this will not suit someone with a full-time job (unless you work fully from home, which is fine). Experience with Staffies is not essential if you are willing to learn and work with them, but would be advantageous.

The dogs are inside dogs, so you ‘must love dogs’ lol…they will sit with you and sleep with you and follow you around everywhere – they are very clingy. They require regular walking – not absolutely every day, but at least every second day, for about half an hour. The younger dog is very strong and pully so you need to be strong enough to be able to handle this. The dogs do not have recall so must be on a lead at all times when outside the front gate.

Note our dogs are not used to children, so this placement is not suitable for kids under 12-ish. Our bedding arrangement is one large bed in the main bedroom (for humans and dogs) and one single bed in another room.

We live in a quiet street and are on friendly terms with our neighbours, so no partying, large gatherings or excessive noise.

Autumn is a delightful time of year in Gladstone, the humidity goes and it’s just pleasant and warm and it rarely rains.
