House Sitter Wanted – Remote Island Paradise on the Great Barrier Reef

Our property offers absolute beach frontage to the Great Barrier Reef and is surrounded by pristine bushland. We have two new houses on the property: our main residence (which we’ll occupy about 70% of the time) and a fully self-contained one-bedroom home for our house sitter. The sitter's home includes a lounge room, bathroom, kitchen, and laundry, and is fully furnished with new furniture and modern appliances. Air-conditioned.

We are looking for a reliable, nature-loving individual or couple to stay for approximately 6–9 months.

About the Location:
The property is in a remote part of the island, accessible by a 25-minute 4WD buggy drive from the ferry landing on the other side of the island. The track is rough in places, so prior experience driving a 4WD is highly recommended.

We expect the house sitter to be mostly self-sufficient, making use of fresh produce from the garden, eggs from our chickens, and local fish. Trips to the mainland (Yeppoon) for supplies can be made every week or two, with multiple daily ferry services making it easy to go in the morning and return the same day.

Responsibilities:
- Feeding and caring for the chickens
- Mowing the lawns using a ride-on mower and trimming edges (every 1–2 weeks, depending on the season)
- General property upkeep: basic gardening, keeping the house tidy, occasional hosing down of the buildings
- Monitoring water levels and ensuring general property security

Requirements:
- Comfortable using a ride-on mower and handling basic property maintenance
- No families or groups — best suited to an individual or quiet couple
- Absolutely no parties or late nights — we’re looking for someone who appreciates peace and quiet
- Comfortable with remote living in a stunning natural setting
- Non-smoker
