Hello potential home/kitties carer (and some pot plants)😀

I have 2 feline children🐈‍⬛ & 🐈 who live with me in my comfortable, light and bright apartment in the beautiful Tuggeranong valley in Greenway, Canberra.
I live right next to Lake Tuggeranong for those who love to walk, run, cycle. Also within walking distance are a myriad of restaurants, coffee shops, a shopping centre, and Point Hut (google that :-) where one can swim in the Murrumbidgee river and hike, picnic, etc. Hiking trails are aplenty in the bush capital, so for outdoors enthusiasts, you have your choice.
My apartment has a main bedroom with a queen bed, a second room (study with desk, large curved monitor, and a single bed) and a very large balcony to enjoy beverages, reading, or creative pursuits (there is an easel). My living room has a long and very cozy chaise to watch tv from, a piano to tinkle, a guitar and a handpan. It’s a modern apartment (but not clinical). It’s a really lovely sanctuary.
There is a basement carpark and there are so many things to explore in Canberra and the surrounds. There are buses as well.
I am looking for an easy going cat lover/s who will spend enough time with my 7 year old mischievous boy Leroy (Abyssinian Tabby) and my 9 year old sweet tuxedo girl Milos (pronounced Meelos). I encourage exploring the region but my kitties can’t be starved of attention. :)
I work full time as a psychotherapist/expressive arts therapist and although I love to get out and about on the weekends, locally, or to visit my children (in their 20s) in Sydney, I also love my sanctuary and spending time with my kitties.
Friends and family love visiting.
So my ideal sitter will want to spend some of their time doing things at home as well as galavanting :-)
A must is that they will share my comfy bed with Leroy and Milos (their bed that they share with me). And a non-smoker.
I have different sized and types of pillows so you can be a pillow goldilocks.
I will also make space in my wardrobe for my sitter and encourage you to make yourself at home. My apartment is clean, tidy and comfy. The complex is quiet, safe, people are friendly, and, having lived in different states, towns, cities in Australia and overseas (Im originally from South Africa), it is really one of the best places I’ve ever called home. There are lifts to the 3rd floor where I live, so no having to climb stairs. I’ve listed that my home is in the suburbs, but Canberra was designed in such a way that suburbs form part of a region that is like a satellite city (or town), so it has the peace of the suburbs, but it’s a walk to amenities.
There are security cameras around the complex and in the entrance (which is accessible with a fob or by being buzzed in - for uber eats), but it’s safe here. There are restaurants along the road but it’s whisper quiet at night because my apartment overlooks the courtyard.
The Lakeside leisure centre is a walk or short drive away where there’s an aquatic centre and steam room and gym. There are plenty gyms around and a Pilates studio right across the road.
There are spots to swim at in Lake Tuggeranong but I never have. You can swim in the Murrumbidgee river at point hut or other areas. Batemans bay is a day trip.
You can also fish, if that’s your thing, but you’ll need to BYO fishing gear. I have an inflatable kayak so you can use that. There are also Lime bikes around. And so many lakes around Canberra. There’s a library and community centre steps away, and so on. I’ll upload more photos in the coming days! :-)
As the stay is over new year, there will be fireworks displays over Lake Burkey Griffin. I went there with my sister and some friends (2025-2026) and it was wonderful, without throngs of crowds. I’ll update my profile with photos of my apartment and surrounds over the next few days. Thanks for reading and considering my listing. One last thing - I really need somebody reliable as I’ll be visiting my sister in the USA, and leaving my cats for 3 weeks is an anxiety inducing thought 😿.
