About this house sitting position in Hallett

Hello!!

We are looking for a house/farm sitter for about 9 days from early January (2 January) in Hallett - located in the the Mid North region of South Australia. This is sheep and wheat country - you will see fields of sheep grazing, fields of wheat, barley etc. It's a very beautiful area, with wineries in the Clare Valley region about 45 minutes away. Spend your days relaxing with our farm animals, sitting in our garden, or exploring the nearby towns of Burra, Jamestown or even further afield to Peterborough.

Your arrival/departure dates can be flexible, i.e you can arrive a few days earlier and depart a few days later than we are actually away for, as long as you are here while we are away - Welcome to stay a few days either side to make it work for you!

We are looking for someone that is self contained as a first preference, i.e sleep in your own caravan or campervan etc.

We have 35 acre property with 2 cats, boxer dog, chooks, guinea fowl, peafowl, a small mob of sheep, pigs, a few cows and 1 alpaca.

In terms of looking after the animals, we would require the following:
- Feed our two cats and make sure they have water (they are inside/outside cats). They generally sleep inside and do their business outside.
- Make sure the chooks have food. They free graze during the day, but need to be locked up a night (they go back to their coop by themselves, so just need to lock the door.
- feed out a wheelbarrow or two of grain for the pigs daily and soak the next day's feed.
- check water troughs are self-filling
- feed and water the dog and take him for a walk or two around the paddocks

Garden
Just pop the sprinklers one. We can run about 4 sprinklers at once, so you can move them around as needed. We generally heavily water a section of the garden, and then it is usually fine for a few days.

Our garden is a lovely place to relax, lots of birds in our trees. If you have kids, they are welcome to use our trampoline, sandpit and cubby house.

The actual animal chores won't take more than 60 minutes (if that!) a day - plus you can eat any eggs for your brekky! Great opportunity to experience farm life on our hobby farm. We have a 4 kids ourself, so the farm is very kid friendly/safe. Great opportunity for the kids to see the animals up close!
