About this house sitting position in Harvey

10 acre property of which 4 acres is a small vineyard. Remainder is paddock, farm sheds, plus fenced home. We have a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom airconditioned brick home ( 1 bedroom only available for house sitters/guests), small separate tv area/sofa bed, large open kitchen/dining/ lounge area, and an undercover patio area with 6 person seating.

Our prize possession is Mundy, our Very well-behaved border collie who will be 3 yrs old in April. We have decided on advertising for house sitters because of wanting things as right for him as is possible, if we are away for a longish time. Importantly, he requires exercise, as well as humans he is not too far away from. Because our work place is on our property, we are home for the majority of most days. He would struggle too much to be left alone for long hours each day, so this sit would likely not suit working-away sitters, or those wanting to regularly head off for several hours in the day. He sleeps inside, as dogs in the area can set one another off at night of rabbits/foxes around. Mundy is the main reason for the house sit , so we really hope for house sitters who can cater for his needs re exercise and love. During the day, he is often on alert, asking you for some Mundy stimulus (twice a day minimum is commonly recommended )whether it be walking/running the streets with you, or ball chasing on the property, together with just hanging out with you as you do things on the property. (He loves going to the nearby beach or dam should you be people who enjoy dogs tagging along...but that is not being asked of you.) As is common with border collies, Mundy prefers human company... very particular about letting other dogs into his life, which is why we are firstly saying no to sitters with a dog. If there was a VERY well-trained settled dog who may suit the situation as a companion, where Mundy would not be neglected for the other, we would be prepared to have the dogs meet first, to determine if the sit would work for you, us ...and the dogs! However, it is important to know we do not allow any dog of any size on any indoor furniture, including our outdoor setting.

We have 8 chickens so you will have eggs to enjoy or give. We would ask you to feed & water them and just keep their coop clean of their mess every 2 or 3 days.

We have approx 12 plant pots to periodically water and a garden reticulation system to turn on if/when needed in those months. Weeds are few, so an occasional hand pull out if you see one or two would be appreciated. There is weed matting.

There is a small veggie patch area which grows some herbs but mainly food for the chickens at that time of year. Watering of that is needed when required, as well as you feeling free to help yourself if anything is to your taste.

The house will be well cleaned and organised for your comfort and needs, such as cleared pantry shelving etc. We would ask that it be returned to us so we also won't feel the need to tidy or clean on our return.

We are realistic in our expectations and consider ourselves to be friendly, caring and approachable. We have always done our best to make our sitters feel comfortable and at home for the duration of their stay and encouraged contact should anything need to be clarified. We have organised written information for you to refer to including all necessary contacts.
