Hi there... We live in western Qld on our sheep station and January to April is hot and we can have some amazing rain and storms as it is the wet season. Sunsets are glorious. Whilst perfectly safe here from ANY flooding etc. there is 2kms of good dirt on our driveway into the homestead when exiting from the main bitumen road. If it does rain heavily, a creek may stop you from going to town (Longreach or Ilfracombe) for a couple of days. Our home is a fully air conditioned single storey dwelling with 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is also an external "donga" or coconut hut as we call it within the garden with its own air conditioning, bathroom and toilet and is very comfortable. There is a large fully operational kitchen and comfortable lounge and dining area. An enclosed gauze verandah leads out onto the pool deck which is also undercover and has a bbq and sitting area, perfect for afternoon drinks or morning coffees. There are four steps from the outside area to access entry into the house. There is also a ramp near the front pool deck (as we have daschounds, but they travel with us). There is also a cold room and a meathouse within the garden area. A couple of workshops and sheds are a short distance from the garden fence. We have a sunset bar and a firepit (not needed in summer obviously!) also outside the garden fence which is lovely to watch storms or sunsets. Please note: there is only Telstra mobile service available at the homestead and the wifi is usually pretty reasonable. Homestead TV is connected to Fox & Netflix etc etc. Excellent walking tracks along our airstrip or down to the dam OR around the woolshed and quarters for anybody wanting a morning walk about. Excellent quality rain drinking water and bore water through the house for washing machine & dishwasher etc etc. A homesitter would be offered the very comfortable donga/coconut hut to sleep in but naturally have full use of our home and facilities whilst undertaking the house and garden sit. If the home sitter preferred to have their own caravan they would be most welcome to connect it to power here at homestead and use that if preferred. Our garden is fully fenced with pop up sprinklers on a timer that usually shut off, but sometimes can get occasionally stuck! We have some outside pot plants to hand water with the hose and only a couple of inside plants. There is also a small citrus garden that is also on a timer. Lush green lawn that needs mowing around once a week during the summer. The above ground pool with a bbq and deck around it is in the garden and is under cover at one end of it. It is low maintenance, just needing the skimmer box checked daily and a water top up when required - again this is on a timer and easy to use. The robotic pool cleaner is manually put into and removed from the pool when it needs a clean. Its very very enjoyable on a hot Qld day!! A 4WD vehicle is not absolutely necessary, but due to the 2km of dirt, a good reliable car would be highly recommended. We will consider small dogs upon chatting with potential house sitters. Ilfracombe is 26km with the historic Wellshot Hotel, a golf course and post office. Longreach is 60km away with supermarkets, banks & shopping etc etc. Many people go fishing for yellowbelly at nearby Isisford which is about 60km from here. Our 24 year old son and his partner (she is a nurse) live over the road on our other property and he runs the station in our absence so you are not ever really entirely alone or without help if needed.
