About this house sitting position in Mareeba

House-Sitters required in Mareeba, Far North Queensland, from 7th October, 2026 up to and including 31st October 2026. These dates can be negotiated by a day or so either end of period, please ask. Our home is a small 2 bedroom cottage, with our 4 y/o Standard Poodle (M), 2 y/o Standard Poodle (F), 3 y/o Mini Daxy (F), 6 y/o Ragdoll X cat and 9 y/o DSH cat. Both cats are “Indoors Only”. You are not required to walk the 3 dogs, we have a large yard, but we’d appreciate you spend time and play with them to get their energy out each day. Ideally, we would like someone with their own caravan or camper, or if you are a single person, there is a spare room with single bed. Our pets aren’t good with other pets, so you’re having your own pet/s will not be an option, unfortunately. We have room under the carport (purpose built for off-road caravans - see photo). We will supply power, wifi & water. You will have use of the house, which has Inverter Air conditioning (Solar), fans, and all the mod cons. We have wonderful neighbours. Our pets need someone to make sure they are fed, watered, and loved. There are some pot plants to be watered and lawn care has been pre-arranged with a contractor, so no mowing necessary. The weather will be beautifully cool in the am/pm, but lovely through the day. There are loads of places to swim, beautiful waterfalls and freshwater rivers, creeks and Lake Tinaroo, Lake Eacham & Lake Barine – all not far from here. Mareeba is a great point to base yourself to see what the Atherton Tablelands, Cairns and the Far North has to offer. There is plenty to see and do. There is tonnes of fresh fruit, vegetables, coffee & beef grown here, and lots of great touristy stuff too. There is an amazing Tourist Information Centre/Museum, and they can point you in the direction of all the ‘Must See’s’. The scenery is amazing, and the locals are very welcoming and friendly. It is approximately a 60 minute drive to Cairns, taking you from the Savannah, through the rainforest, down to the coastal region of Cairns. The very trendy Port Douglas is approximately 70 minutes drive from Mareeba. So if you’re planning on seeing the beautiful Great Barrier Reef, you can do it in a day from here to either Cairns or Port Douglas for your tour.
