About this house sitting position in Northcote
Dog and cat require a sitter for three nights over Easter. Our home is a two bedroom house in Northcote with a lovely leafy front garden and back courtyard. Nicely decorated and very comfortable. It is 300m from Dennis train station and walking distance to High St, Westgarth. The spare room is currently where the dog sleeps however if you needed it, his crate could be moved into the kitchen and I could set up an air mattress.
Northcote is one of the most popular areas in Melbourne and proud owner of the world's coolest street. There's an abundance of cafes, bars and restaurants, live music venues and close proximity to parks, rivers, bushland.
Odin is a 7 month old White Swiss Shepherd who is confident, social and sweet natured, incredibly intelligent and loves everyone and everything he meets. Being a working breed, he needs physical and mental activity every day however nothing too crazy, short bursts like a 30-45 min walk, 10 min play session or training is enough. He also needs a few enforced naps throughout the day to keep him on his best behaviour as sometimes he has trouble finding his off switch. Being a puppy, he can't be left alone all day so he won't suit a sitter who will be out all the time. He sleeps through the night for 10+ hours so can be left for longer in the evenings. He doesn't bite, jump, bark, chew or do any other annoying puppy things (other than steal your socks if you're foolish enough to leave them lying around). He is very well trained for his age and a pleasure to be around at home. Out in the real world however, he needs a bit more management as his over-enthusiasm for saying hello to other dogs means he's prone to lead pulling and at 30kgs, he'd be best suited to someone who's experienced with and can physically handle large breeds. He's also not great at sitting still in one place for long periods of time so isn't the best pub/cafe companion yet.
Mika is a 5 year old ragdoll cat who is crazy smart and knows more tricks than her brother. She is low maintenance and just needs to be fed twice a day, her litter box scooped, some supervised outside time in the garden and space and protection from Odin. She unfortunately is yet to succumb to his charms and his constant attempts to instigate play are not appreciated. There are baby gates to help manage this and Odin is also crate trained so will be confined whenever you're out and they are unsupervised. Read more...
