About this house sitting position in Nundah
2 bed, 1 bath unit in Nundah near the train station, looking after a 14 month old kelpie cross.
I need to head back to Canada for ~2 weeks for unexpected family matters, and need someone to look after my newly adopted rescue pup. Absolutely not ideal timing to be leaving her, but it's important that I leave her in her own home and in trusted hands.
The main bed and living area have A/C, and ceiling fans in all rooms. You'll have your choice of how you use the space.
I used to love knowing the details when I was a housesitter, so below is tons of it for those detail-oriented:
- I've just adopted Audrey from a rescue after she was found as a stray in Tamworth. She was underweight and terrified of people, but has blossomed into an amazing, gentle and loving dog.
- She's best suited with someone who can ideally be home more often than not. I'm working on leaving her alone for longer periods of time and a full day a couple times a week shouldn't be an issue by late Jan.
- She's not realllyy a fan of men, but a woman + man couple might be okay.
- She's fantastic around other dogs and loves the dog park and thrives there. But she is still too scared to walk on a lead to get there so we drive the 30 seconds to the dog park down the road (must have a car, or we could arrange you using mine for these short drives!) 🤣
- She is a teenager and high energy, so does require a bit of exercise and stimulation or she will find a way to entertain herself 😬. There's a park across the street we play fetch on with the long lead and two dog parks very close by. I'll set you up with the kongs and lick mats and snuffle mats, etc.
- She is potty trained, but I wouldn't be surprised if she had a moment of regression with a new housesitter. There is a pet loo (fake grass toilet) on the patio out back for emergencies or longer hours away from home, and she knows to use it. Otherwise she lets you know when she needs to go out.
- You must be able to do a meet and greet before beginning the sit.
- One other small-medium dog may be welcome (note it is a small unit), as long as they get along and it is well behaved enough.
- I don't have a TV, but would be willing to get one if it woudl otherwise be a dealbreaker for the right sitter.
- Note the unit is close to the train station, and walking distance to shops, but there is some train noise so if you are a super super light sleeper this may not be for you!
- I leave around mid-day on Friday the 23rd, and return around 6 or 7 am on Sunday the 8th. If you are housesitting full-time and need the accom between sits, you are welcome to stay 1-2 nights on either side of this, but I will also be in the unit.
Finally I've been a housesitter for 6+ years (including some full-time stretches of 4-6 months), and this is my first time on the pet owner side after finally pulling the trigger on getting my own dog. Let me know what you need to make this work for you as well. Read more...
