About this house sitting position in Portarlington
Hi ... our home is a modern double story townhouse (5 years old) with 3 bedrooms and office/studio. It has a single person lift as well as stairs. We have 2 cats and 1 small dog who we need to be minded for 3+ weeks in May/June next year.
Upstairs has an open plan living area with kitchen, dining and lounge room and sliding door to outside balcony (furnished with outdoor lounge suite and dining setting). There is a powder room (toilet and basin) for visitors upstairs and our master bedroom is upstairs also, with ensuite.
We have reverse cycle air cons and ceiling fans in living areas and bedrooms which do a good job in heating and cooling the rooms as needed. The lounge room has a theatre suite with electric recliners, charging ports, drink holders etc and a 75" TV with Netflix and Brit Box. Wifi available, unlimited.
Downstairs has two guest bedrooms, one with QB and walk-in robe adjoining the main bathroom (with bath) and separate toilet. The other bedroom has a DB and BIR. This room is just across the passage from the bathroom and toilet.
Laundry has front load washer and dryer. We have a rotary clothes line in the back yard and clothes horse upstairs.
Double garage will have our cars in it but parking is available in the driveway, undercover.
We are looking for a mature house sitter or couple (non smokers essential) who love animals and will take good care of our pets and home.
These are our boys (all desexed):
Lawson is our 16 year old maltese shitzu. He has a heart condition and needs to take 1/4 tablet twice/day (he happily takes this with a treat). He loves a daily walk of about 15-20 mins, but at a slowish pace, not too strenuous.
Our two cats, Austen (6 year old chocolate burmese) and Sawyer (4 year old seal mink tonkinese) just love cuddles and playing. They are very affectionate (be prepared for smoogies).
They all have a balanced raw diet and we'll leave clear written instructions for their feeding. All food will be pre-prepared; just needs to be thawed and/or tins opened.
Lawson and Austen are both very territorial and would be extremely upset with a strange dog or cat in the house so we can't welcome sitters with their own pets, sorry.
The boys have a doggy door so they can go in and out to an enclosed side yard (with cat proof netting) whenever they like to have fresh air and sunshine and to do their business (kitty litter is outside, under cover).
We won't need any gardening or lawn mowing done and most indoor plants are fake (just a couple of hardy survivors in the kitchen).
Portarlington is a small coastal town on the Bellarine Peninsula, 30 mins from Geelong. There is a Woolworths supermarket, bakery, takeaways, cafes and specialty shops within walking distance.
There are also wineries and golf & bowls clubs for meals in the area.
Our home is 4 blocks from the beach, situated on a hill with expansive views of the bay. On clear days Melbourne skyscrapers can be seen on the other side of the bay.
There is a passenger ferry from Docklands to Portarlington which runs twice/day in both directions (the pier is also within walking distance) and Portarlington has a regular bus service into Geelong (Myki card can be used).
Queenscliff is a 20 minute drive away where there is a car and passenger ferry across to Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula (45 min journey). Perfect for a day trip. Other towns can be visited along the scenic coast road from Portarlington.
Portarlington in winter is cold but the upstairs living area has a good heater as does your bedroom (which also has electric blanket on the bed and extra doonas). On sunny days the sun streams through the windows upstairs which is lovely (and you'll find all 3, dog and cats, sleeping in a sunny patch on the floor).
But please don't apply if you are likely to cancel last minute if a house sit in sunny Queensland becomes available for you at the same time. This happened to us once and threw us into turmoil.
Neil and I would love to welcome you to our home. We are clean and tidy and non smokers. We don't have a coffee machine though, sorry, as we don't drink coffee. Otherwise our kitchen and pantry are well equipped and you are welcome to help yourselves to whatever is available.
If you are free on our dates and would like to look after our boys and home please message me, thanks so much, Lorraine Read more...
