About this house sitting position in Renwick

4 bedroom home situated on 2000sq.m with farm land at the back, bush to the side. Kookaburras, Kangaroos and cows visit on a regular basis. Our neighbours & neighbourhood are all really quiet so it is like being on acreage with the convenience of being near town. Mittagong is a 5 min drive away.

The main requirement is to look after our nearly 6 year old Welsh Springer Spaniel, Shadow, who prefers to be with his humans all the time, including sleeping in your room in his own bed. Shadow is an extremely enthusiastic, and friendly dog who loves nothing more than curling up next to you on the lounge after his walk or dinner, "purring" as Welshies do. If he's happy he's more than comfortable sleeping a lot of the day but still loves a good game of chase in the back yard or a lovely bush walk on a long line.

He has always been an anxious dog, after a couple of not so nice events while he was young. He takes medication every day and as long as he is not too overstimulated or his routine isn't thrown too much or he manages very well. As such he cannot be left on his own for very long, if at all!!!!!

He loves an adventure out and about, bush walks, cafes, pubs etc but is happiest near you at home. For a medium size dog, 21kgs, he can pull on his lead if you don't handle him correctly and if determined is very strong. We can loose lead walk him however so it's just practise & patience with him. You will need to be firm but kind with him. We have particular ways to deal with this and his other "quirky" ways which we will ensure you are thoroughly versed in.

Shadow requires brushing at least once a week and his teeth cleaned at least every second day. He's happy to do these tasks.

Welsh Springers are lovely dogs, different to Cockers & English Springers, but similar. If you've not met one before check out the breed as they are beautiful, over friendly, but cuddly & unique.

Would suggest that if you are interested that we organise a meet and greet or possibly a trial couple of days and if taking on the job that you come to our house the day before to get an idea of his routine.

In addition to looking after Shadow, we need the veggie patch watered as required. There maybe some gardening to do but hopefully by May things will have slowed a bit.

Days & evenings can be a bit chilly down here in May. We have a lovely gas fire in the front room, air conditioning throughout and level 7 (top warmth) doona on your bed. Blankets everywhere. We don't have electric blankets but if its a deal breaker it could be sorted for you.
