About this house sitting position in Riddells Creek
We live in a comfortable farm house on 150 acres, 3km up a dirt road from the village of Riddells Creek, which has a train station on Bendigo V/line (Southern Cross 45mins and Bendigo 65mins). Features of the area (Macedon Ranges), include Hanging Rock, Mt Macedon Memorial Park, Hill Station gardens and numerous cool climate wineries.
The property is part bush, part paddocks, with no visible neighbours. Our adult daughter lives on the property in a separate cottage approx. 400m from main house. Surrounded by wildlife- kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, wedge tail eagles, and occasional deer and koalas, the home is nestled in a tranquil valley. There are 2 dams (one swimmable) and a kilometer of creek frontage. The property adjoins a stunning 100-acre fauna reserve with 3km round trip walking track (open to the public).
We have no farm animals; however, Kate’s 5 chickens will need to be fed once a day when she is away (1-3 mornings a week). The house is reliant on rain water tanks and a septic system and is equipped with roof sprinkler system for fire safety. Internet/ wifi is via Starlink.
There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms + 2 extra toilets, 2 large living areas both with wood fire places, a laundry (no dryer), and study with expansive west facing verandah overlooking the picturesque bushlands.
The house has 2 floors, with the spacious downstairs area available for our house sitters.
We have 2 beautiful re-homed dogs, both who experience separation anxiety. They can be left at home for a few hours during the day, but not overnight. However if left for too long, they can occasionally defecate inside. Lacey is an 11 year old tri-colour English Setter and Bo is a 3 year old Spoodle. Both dogs are very affectionate and love being inside with their people including sleeping next to the bed (Lacey) and on the bed (Bo). They also love to wander off lead in the paddocks on their daily walk, but they have never strayed. Both dogs love car rides, so prefer to be taken rather than left at home.
Property maintenance will include raking out bush track gutters, bringing in pre-cut firewood, raking fallen leaves, loading rubbish bins into Ute to deliver to top of driveway for collection (weekly). The dogs will need to be fed once a day and washed and groomed when needed (generally weekly).
