About this house sitting position in South Dudley

Hi! We are looking for someone to care for our two small elderly dogs while we are away over most of Dec and Jan for six weeks. Our standalone home is tucked away in a quiet pocket of Wonthaggi, just 15 min from the holiday beach destination, Inverloch.

DOGS - Our dogs are named Freckles and Jack. Freckles is a giraffe-legged 15-year-old black-and-white chihuahua mix. She mostly just loves to sleep on her cushion or on the bed. She's a little hard of hearing and her vision is starting to go, but she's spry and sweet. She is wary of strangers at first, but once she gets used to you, she will just sleep in your general vicinity. No pats please. Jack is a 13-year-old honeypuff. He's a corgi mix who has the colouration and general intelligence of a loaf of toasted bread. He loves to curl up against you on the couch for a pet or in a warm sunspot (even when it’s too hot). He is a very good boy.

DOG CARE - These days, they do not go on neighbourhood walks. Instead, they prefer to just explore the backyard as their primary form of exercise. They need to be let out into the backyard 3x/day and fed 2x/day. As older dogs, they’re very comfortable being at home by themselves for a time if you go exploring. They are not, however, suited for high-energy sitters, parties of any kind, or lots of people coming and going as that would upset them. We also cannot accommodate sitters’ own pets, as our dogs don’t play nice with other animals.

HOUSE – We have a moderate lawn that needs mowing and indoor plants that need watering as needed. Our neighbourhood has a forest, rail trail, and wetland loop, all within a 5-min walk. Our home is a 5-min drive to the town centre, which has four grocery stores, a library, a gym, and plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops. The best part for summer is that we are just a 15-min drive to Inverloch surf parade and beaches, as well as Cape Paterson and Kilcunda. You can also reach Philip Island in 25 min, and Wilson’s Prom to the east and Melbourne to the northwest, both in 1.5 hours.

SITTER - We're looking for relaxed and calm sitter/s who want an easy summer by the sea. Sitters will have full use of the house facilities – internet, air con, bed, washing machine; all the normal stuff. Strictly non-smokers only.
