About this house sitting position in ST IVES CHASE
Diesel and Snoop are rescue dogs. They look big and have a great bark on them, but they are scaredy cats really! Neither have or would ever hurt a fly.
Diesel is 10 and knows he is handsome. He loves nothing more than sunbathing and chatting to all the other dogs and people in the neighbourhood. He loves saying hi and reading the daily 'news' on his walks and is the sweetest old man when he isn't being selectively deaf!
Snoop is 4 and utterly clueless. He takes a while to warm up to strangers (and anything new), but when he does, he will follow you everywhere and love you oh so much. He has excellent recall is completely ball-obsessed and loves to chase and chase and chase, so if you have the patience to be his friend, he will adore you forever. Our previous sitters have testified to this.
They need two walks a day, two meals a day and someone to be in the house every night to wake up with them each morning. They are used to having no-one home most days and live in the garden when we are out. They don't need much...
However, their carers need to be
(1) experienced with bigger dogs. Clearing up bigger poos is not the only reason for this!
(2) physically fit and healthy. While they are big softies and very well behaved, they are still strong dogs. Also we have a steep but short driveway.
(3) patient. Anyone who has worked with rescues knows that we never know the real backstory and why they respond in certain ways to things.
We have dog-walks aplenty around us, from fire trails, to off-leash areas to coffee-shop loops.
Buses run nearby into the city or to Gordon train station.
We are 8 mins drive from supermarkets and 25 mins from the nearest beach, Westfield and hospital.
It's the suburbs but neighbours the bush!
A couple would be preferable. We can't have additional visitors to the house because of the dogs' response. And we would need our sitters to visit the day or so before we leave on 3 December to meet the boys.
We live on a steep block near bushland, so would not be suitable if you're not fit and healthy.
Our home is recently renovated, very easy to look after and we love it. Our housesitters use the guest room on the ground floor and adjacent bathroom.
All we ask is that you can reassure us that you are reliable and trustworthy, that our dogs will be looked after and that our home, pool and garden are also cared for and clean/tidy when we get home. Includes watering the plants if there is a dry spell and keeping an eye on the automated pool dosing system. No need to mow, strim or weed unless you want to!
References would be helpful.
We're pretty house-proud and have both been and used housesitters, so we know what to expect. Read more...
