About this house sitting position in Tara
Our home is set on 100 acres. The house is on stumps approx 3 foot off the ground. It is a smaller house with three bedrooms and two shower rooms and two toilets. It was built in 1981 to give you an idea of its weatherboard look. We have a large deck which we spend lots of time on. The flooring is all floating floors or tiles or timber. This is to make it easier to look after with our two blue stumpy dog friends who basically live inside with us. They can and will chase cattle when asked to do so. They are our main request for our sitters to look after. If you love cuddly cattle dogs, these two will love you right back. They both sleep inside with us usually, so they will sleep on our bed when we are away. One will need a pee during the night most nights unless you stay up later and make them go out for a pee then. Both dogs like to sit on the lounge chairs, one each. And if you happen to be sitting on one of theirs , they may just sit comfortably on you. There are other lounge chairs for people too. The dogs are very gentle. Besides the two blue dogs, we have probably 20 chooks and a rooster, 6 bantams and a rooster and one quiet galah . We also have a few cattle, but they should be fine on their own depending on the rain and feed that will be available at the time. We need someone to feed and water all the chooks and galah, water the garden which is all on drippers and the pump is turned on by turning a switch on and check the cattle occasionaly. You wont have to do anything with the cattle at this stage. We also have koalas that visit in our house yard whenever they like. We have a ride on mower iff the grass grows, but usually not at that time of the year. But mainly to look after like they were their very own, our two dogs. We also have a few holes in the Undulla Creek that you can fish in if that takes your fancy. If you wanted to do day trips around the area that will be fine. Towns close by that are worth a visit are Meandarra, Glenmorgan, Surat, Roma (Roma is 2 1/2 hrs away) then Chinchilla, Dalby and Toowoomba ( is 2 hrs away) or have a look at Moonie and Goondiwindi ( 2hrs away) Lots around to look at. AND... the end of July and beginning of August Tara hosts the Tara Festival of Culture and Camel Races! It goes from Friday night to Sunday Afternoon. Google it. Great weekend out for visitors and if you happen to be a crafty type of person, you could have a market stall there if you contact the Festival committee.. It draws thousands to visit Tara.
