About this house sitting position in Taranna

My home is a classic 80’s brick veneer house a part of which would be at the house sitter’s disposal (the other part would stay empty). The part made available has been renovated. Nothing too fancy but comfy enough and warm in the winter with underfloor heating in the old kitchen and in part of living/sleeping area and a woodheater to boost the comfort if needed. There’s a compact bathroom with walk-in shower in the hallway, wash machine and laundry sink are on the porch. (=“cleaning zone” :-) No need to worry about the garden (about an acre) or anything else, animal welfare is a priority. The house is nestled up above the bay in a end of the road private location of a quiet rural township on the South East coast of Tasmania. There’s a bitumen road access and a carpark big enough for a caravan or a boat trailer. Behind the carpark is a pen and a small paddock with my five beloved wonderful goats which will need someone’s TLC. They’re four mature Toggenburg milking does and a wether. All very gentle natured and easy to handle. The farm jobs will involve feeding twice a day and keeping the pen, shelters and water troughs clean. Hand milking twice a week can be included but it’s not a must for this particular house sit period. My partner runs a farm just up the road and can take care of the milkings if needed. I’m looking for solid, kind and patient animal loving people ideally (but not necessarily) with some previous farming experience who are not afraid of grabbing hold of a rake and a wheelbarrow. In return you’ll get all the goats love, possibly healthy delicious fresh milk and definitely comfortable enough place to stay for about a month. All in a great location with some of the most popular walking trails, beaches and fishing in the state on your doorstep. There’s bike trails just behind the back fence too. You will also have my eternal gratitude that my gorgeous darling goats are taken good care of while I’m away. Read more...
