About this house sitting position in Tolga
My dream sitter is someone with their own camper or van, but it is not a deal breaker.
I need a sitter who will spend time with my dogs daily. They love cuddles in bed as I wake up and often sleep with me.
Both my furry boys are fed dry biscuits in the morning and evening with a treat of a chicken neck in the evening as well. Matisse needs one tablet given at night for allergies and he is a very good boy and takes it well.
Matisse and Leo move freely inside and out, through a dog door, so there is no need to take them out for toileting. They are able to choose where they sleep at night, sometimes staying outside until the wee hours when they come in and hop on my bed. They also enjoy the couch.
Matisse and Leo are used to me being at work from Monday to Friday for about 6 hours and then the weekends are spent together. They enjoy being played with in the afternoons and especially like a walk along the local rail trail near the WW2 War Igloo just down the road (5 minutes in the car). They both travel well in cars but aren't used to dog parks or being around other dogs, so we don't visit those places. We play outside with balls and toys for about an hour every afternoon. They also enjoy a walk around the block, but Matisse has arthritis and can't walk very far without beginning to limp. The hills around the area are a challenge which he enjoys as long as you are happy to go at his pace.
In terms of the garden, the main responsibility will be mowing on a ride-on mower and trimming the edges with a petrol trimmer. There is a robot mower that can mow around the house, but I am unsure if I will set that up to automatically mow. Doing just these jobs on my acre block will take about 3-4 hours each week depending on the weather.
Internally, there is a robot vacuum with a schedule on Monday, Wednesday and Friday which keeps the house pretty clean. There is also a regular vacuum.
I have some indoor plants which will need watering each day. Most of my larger garden areas have a watering system which can be set on a timer and left. IF there is a lot of rain about (which can happen in March/April) watering will not be necessary. There is no expectation to water the lawn. Read more...
