About this house sitting position in Topaz

We are a 150 acre farm 90 minutes drive from Cairns on the Atherton Tablelands. Our climate here is significantly cooler than the tropical coast.

We will be overseas from the 27th of November 2026 till the 29th of January 2027 and are looking for a reliable person or couple to live on our beautiful property for that time. The farm itself will need some attention mainly feeding the chickens ducks & geese who will give you fresh eggs every day, our 5 horses will want a kiss on the nose every day with a biscuit of hay, our barn cats will need a daily feed, and most importantly our 2 Golden Retrievers will want to give you all their love and attention every day. If you don't like animals, especially dogs, this is not for you!

Some property maintenance tasks will be required, however we will have local assistance available if there are any issues on the property that need special attention or repair. We will be contactable most of the time, and will check in with you every few days if necessary.

The property is completely off-grid, however you would not know it. Crystal clear pure rainwater and free electricity from the sun provide you all the conveniences you’d expect anywhere. The huge living space is built into our large barn and offers all the conveniences of modern living. There is a comfortable guest room with a king bed for your use, fully equipped bathroom, laundry and kitchen with a huge living area. Also plenty of room for a large caravan or motor home for anyone that is on the road.

Whilst we do not need experienced farm hands, it will require some practical outdoor experience and we’d prefer someone that has experienced and enjoyed life on the land so there are no surprises. A love for animals great and small is going to be imperative, and you’ll need to be prepared to get amongst everything that living on a farm involves daily.
