About this house sitting position in Wonga Beach
House Sitting in the Beautiful Daintree Rainforest 🌿🐾
My home is located at the beginning of the beautiful Daintree Rainforest, on 38 hectares of land. We live off-grid, powered by solar energy and a generator, and have Starlink internet.
A large part of the property was previously used for sugar cane farming, but I have since replanted 18 hectares with rainforest trees, helping to bring the land back to life.
The house has two bedrooms, a spacious patio, a swimming pool and a jacuzzi — the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the rainforest.
There is a service station just 7 km away, Mossman and its shopping centre are approximately 20 km away, and the beach is only 3 km from home.
🐾 Looking for an Animal-Loving House Sitter
I’m looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being surrounded by nature and feels comfortable living in the rainforest. A valid driver’s licence is essential, as you’ll need transport to get around. One of our cars will be available.
I have a few special residents who need some daily care:
🐕 My two dogs: Tucker the Bluey, who is 4 years old, and Banjo my 13-year-old Dalmatian. They need feeding twice a day and a daily walk.
🦆 My 14 Muscovy ducks: They need feeding in the morning with grain and fresh water and evening with lettuce, peas and corn.
🦇 My flying foxes: A few of these beautiful creatures visit every night for their dinner! I prepare four small buckets of fruit salad, which need to be hung up on pulley lines. The fruit salad can be prepared up to four days in advance, making this task nice and easy.
🦘 My agile wallabies: I also have a few wild wallabies who occasionally enjoy a little treat of sweet potato.
If you love animals and appreciate Australia’s unique and beautiful wildlife, you’ll feel right at home here!
🌴 Time to Explore
The daily animal care takes approximately 1.5–2 hours, leaving you plenty of free time to relax and enjoy this incredible part of Far North Queensland.
You can explore the stunning Daintree Rainforest, visit Port Douglas, discover Mossman Gorge, or simply unwind at home by the pool and jacuzzi while enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
We’re heading off to Tasmania on 4 March, so ideally, I’d love someone to arrive a day or two beforehand. This will give me time to show you around, introduce you to all the animals and explain their routines so you feel comfortable and confident before we leave.
If you’re looking for a unique opportunity to experience rainforest living, surrounded by nature and some very special animal friends, this could be the perfect place for you! 🌿🐾 Read more...
