About this house sitting position in Wynn Vale
Looking for a mature, reliable, autonomous person/couple who can take care of our home and 2 small elderly dogs. Ideally a people who are retired or works from home, someone who will be home a reasonable amount of time with the dogs. Of course we don't expect you to be home 24/7 as you will want to explore what Adelaide has to offer.
Our home has recently been fully renovated and has a large undercover outdoor area. The stove, heater and hot water are all gas. The house is located in a very quite cul-de-sac and opposite a creek. Our yard has space to park a caravan if required.
The surrounding area is very peaceful with plenty of nature and walking trails plus a dam nearby, where a spot of fishing can be done (although you'll probably only catch carp), It's like being out in the country.
Whilst this is quite a long house sit, we won't be asking you to pay for any utilities or WiFi, but in return we need the dogs and house to be well cared for. We ask that the house is cleaned regularly and the back entertainment area kept swept and tidy. Our front yard has a number of large gum trees, therefore we require someone who can tend the garden, mow lawns and cut up fallen branches when required. You might even spot a Koala in our gum trees on occasions. We have a small herb garden that you can pick produce from.
The bedroom for sitters has a double bed with built-in wardrobe and plenty of space to unpack and make yourselves comfortable. We will also ensure the bathroom cupboards are clean & cleared for you.
Only approved house sitters are to reside in our house.
We are located in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide, a 5min drive from Golden Grove Shopping Centre for groceries etc. Also not far from larger Tea Tree Plaza Shopping Centre, Cinemas, local library and Modbury Hotel that serves great meals.
There is a bus route from a near-by bus stop ( 5 min walk) which can take you to Tea Tree Plaza Shopping Centre. This bus route also uses the O-Bahn line which can take you into the city. Or you will require a vehicle to get around.
A great spot is Glenelg Beach which is very popular and approx 30-40 min drive away or take the tram from the city to Glenelg. It has great eateries and shopping on jetty road. If you are a lover wine you can't beat a visit to the Barossa Valley famous wineries.
About our dogs Kodi & Kassi:
We have 2 small (13 1/2 yr old) Maltese Shitzu's which are very friendly and not much trouble. We have doggy doors so they come in and out themselves if you are not at home. They are fine to be home alone while you explore what Adelaide has to offer during the day and a few hours of an evening, but please do not leave them alone overnight.
More about Kodi & Kassi:
Breakfast – we will have pre-packed zip lock bags with the goodies they have for breaky.
Dinner – We will have prepared meals packed in containers in the freezer – each container should last 2 days (a quarter for each dog each day) with a bit of tinned food mixed in or household leftovers.
Snacks – at night if you are have a cuppa they usually have a schmacko each (also supplied).
Water bowls are supplied inside and outside the house.
Sleeping arrangements:
They do sleep inside and if I'm honest on our bed at times, but obviously we wouldn't expect that from you. It won't take long for them to get used to your rules.
They really aren't able to jump up or down much anymore, but they are allowed on the furniture, if you could help them that would be great so that they don't injure themselves.
Both dogs are microchipped, de-sexed and registered.
Tips:
• They will sit when told or if you point your finger at them
• Neither of them run off if the doors or gates are left open. Both like to follow you out but are good at coming back. They generally like to have a wander around the front yard, but just keep an eye on them if people with dogs walk past the house.
• Kodi does chase the ball and sounds a quite gruffy when he’s telling you to throw it, but it’s all just noise. He usually gives up after only 1 throw nowadays and Kassi like her brown cow dolly.
• They are very friendly to humans. Kodi likes other dogs, but Kassi doesn't she will actually have a nip at another dog if given the chance to get close enough
,however she doesn't have any teeth left now. We try to keep her away from other dogs because she would cause trouble.
• Now that the dogs are getting older they still like a walk, but it's slower and not all that far now.
They BOTH love cuddles and pats
Thank you
