More information about this house sitter

Hey there! I’m Sarah and I’m about to pack up home and embark on some adventures and would love to house and pet sit as I travel up the east coast from Melbourne. I’m also hoping to make new friends and connections with cool, animal loving, nature loving, creative and interesting people, and maybe be a regular house sitter for those who go away more consistently.

I’ll be working very flexible hours remotely. Basically I tried to quit my job to travel, but they didn’t want to lose me, so have rearranged part of business structure so I can work remotely. I am super creative and love making art and writing, so at night I usually write novels/stories, draw, read or watch tv etc. so outside of my casual work hours, the rest of my day can be spent playing with your pets, housework, gardening and landcare and any extra curricular activities you may like me to do around the house/property. I am happy to do any farm work, as I grew up in the country and have experience with horses and livestock. I’ve worked in a horse agistment facility doing yard care, which included ride on mowing, weeding (inc. thistles etc), tree planting and fence building. (No, I don’t mind getting my hands dirty, but I promise to clean up before I go inside!)

As an animal lover I’ve owned pets for the better part of my life, including dogs, cats, horses, birds/chickens/ducks, goats and cows, and I like to think I generally build a rapport easily with most animals, and people.

I am trustworthy, reliable and respectful. I’m very friendly and adaptable, and like to make sure people feel at ease when trusting me with their home, pet, business or child. I like to treat people and animals with kindness, I respect personal spaces and belongings (being a private person myself), and as a 45 year old woman and single mother (son is 23 now), I know the importance of taking responsibility, reliability, being trustworthy and acting with honesty and integrity. I like to be fit and healthy, so beach walks, running around the yard etc are always on the cards!

I understand that leaving your home in the hands of a stranger can be daunting, but I can promise I will take the greatest care with your pets and home. I’ve held a police check in past - it just needs renewing - and have also held a Baseline Security Clearance Pass as my previous job required me to work with personal and confidential information. I’ve been at my current address for around 8 years and have received glowing references from past landlords. My son will be taking over the lease as we have been great tenants and have built a rapport with our landlords, and neighbours. Something I'm looking forward to doing with any future housesits.

I bring my own very good boy with me, Nero, a border collie x kelpie who just loves being loved by animals and people. He’s very friendly, and would love to make some new mates. He’s very patient but loves his walks and playtime too. He’s toilet trained, knows a few commands and is learning his manners. He can be indoors or out, and occasionally goes to daycare, so has some experience with new dogs and environments. So looking after your beloved pets would be an absolute pleasure for both of us.

I’ve house sat for friends and family members, and have pet sit as well (little white staffy, Tango, in pictures) as well as babysat, but a lot of my experience has come from looking after the properties I’ve rented, as well as being a strong support in my job roles. I’ll be pet and house sitting for my employer for approx. 1 month a year as they travel to Europe, but no dates set as yet. I am new on the site so still getting my references and resources together to upload.

I’m looking for longer term sits, but open to anything. Available late October onwards.

Please feel free to get in touch if you’d like to know more, or are interested in chatting further. I look forward to hearing from you.

PS. Might even leave you with a hand drawn pet portrait ;)
