About this house sitting position in Aberfoyle Park
House & Cat Sitter Wanted
I'm looking for a caring, reliable house and cat sitter to look after my home and, most importantly, my beautiful cat while I'm away.
This isn't just a house-sitting role – it's about finding someone who genuinely understands cats and has experience caring for them, particularly those who are a little anxious or shy.
Over the past year, my cat has experienced a lot of change with moving house and spending time in catteries. As a result, he's become quite timid and can be wary of new people, especially men. Once he feels safe and learns to trust you, he's incredibly affectionate, gentle and loves company, but he needs someone who is patient and willing to let him come to them in his own time.
I'm looking for someone who:
* Has genuine experience caring for cats, particularly nervous or anxious cats.
* Is kind, calm and patient, and understands feline behaviour.
* Is happy to spend time with him each day to help him feel safe and comfortable.
* Has a current Police Check.
* Can provide references from previous house-sitting or pet-sitting clients.
My preference is for a female sitter, as he is much more comfortable around women and tends to become very stressed around unfamiliar men.
The role is otherwise very straightforward. In addition to caring for my cat, I would appreciate someone who can water my indoor and outdoor pot plants while I'm away and keep the home tidy and secure.
Before confirming a sitter, I would like to arrange a meet and greet. This is important so we can get to know each other, discuss my cat's routine and care, and most importantly, see how he responds to you. Finding someone he feels comfortable with will be a key part of my decision.
Due to my cat's anxious nature, this arrangement is best suited to a single person or couple and is not suitable for a family with children or anyone intending to have frequent visitors during the house sit. Providing him with a calm, quiet environment is essential to helping him feel safe and settled while I'm away.
If you're someone who loves cats and understands that building trust with a timid animal takes time, I'd love to hear from you. Finding the right person is far more important to me than simply finding someone to feed him each day—I want to know he'll feel safe, cared for and loved while I'm away, and that my home will be well looked after too.
If this sounds like a good fit for you, I'd love to hear from you. Please tell me a little about yourself, your experience with cats, and provide details of your Police Check and references. Read more...
