About this house sitting position in North Perth
A lovely open plan 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom (with separate toilet) single-level villa in a small strata complex on a quiet cul-de-sac. There is a carport at the front door but it is not the easiest to get in and out of if you have a large vehicle. A street parking permit is possible in that case.
The living area looks through a big glass sliding door on to a patio and large private courtyard garden. An outdoor couch is very pleasant to lounge on on fine days as it catches the winter sun. A small amount of pot plant watering will be needed, under the patio and indoors.
Sookie is a pretty healthy, active 12yo chihuahua-miniature fox terrier cross who likes 30-60 mins walk most days but is used to getting less, so every second day is fine. She is a sweet little dog (only 4kg) who loves snuggling and being patted. If you are happy for her to sleep under the doona with you, she will be very happy. We are trialling a medication for excessive thirst and urination, so she may remain on that. She takes the pill very easily with food.
I am home most of the time so she is used to having company. She is only used to 2-3hr daily absences, but can pretty easily cope with up to 5hrs alone every so often. There is no pet door and she must be kept inside when no-one is home, so 6hrs is the maximum. Of course, occasionally she has an 'accident' with longer absences .
Sookie is a reactive rescue and barks at other dogs, so she needs a bit of management on walks, and also when in the rear courtyard or front room, which I have dubbed the Zen room. It could be used as a second bedroom at a pinch, although the “bed” is a massage-style table. So, some sights (birds), sounds (especially cat bells), or smells (eg rats; a dog being walked down the rear driveway) set Sookie off. She also growls and barks at animals on the TV, whether animated or real! When it's cold she can go under a blanket and not see, which makes it a lot easier. Otherwise you can probably watch shows about ocean creatures or insects OK 😄. Read more...
