More information about this house sitter

We are a responsible Aussie couple from Melbourne that enjoy connecting with nature, animals and writing about personal and fragile human experiences with a little bit of humour. For example we were recently on a boat to an island in Greece...to put it simply it wasn't a smooth ride! As the entire boat turned green and filled sick bags.. all we could do was laugh from the sheer disbelief, the horrible smells and to cope from getting terribly ill. At the end of the ride a few people came up to us and said 'you must be Australians...you have a rather strange sense of humour.' We responded 'yes that's how we tend to cope with what life throws at us...'

We have had a number of unique experiences that has led us to learn, grow and sing to a different tune these days. This year in May we sold nearly all the items we owned and sold our organic food business in Byron Bay and also left a big Marketing Role. Then we left to Greece for 5-6 months and delved into the world of expressing ourselves with words. As time passed and we experienced life in this new way.. we realised all we really have is who we are and our stories. This is how we connected with people who met us for the first time and built trusting and long lasting relationships.

On our return to Australia, many close friends and family told us about house sitting. The conversation came up as we told them how we missed having a pet or caring for a garden and feeling a sense of home away from home. It seemed like this was going to be the next step for us on this path. House sitting compliments our writing lifestyle very much as we would be very present in the house for lengthy periods of time and would love to care for a home or/and animals whilst working.

We take this opportunity very seriously and with a lot of care. Over the years we have both enjoyed the growth and company of animals and also cared for our neighbour or close family friend home while they are away. And having had others also care for our animals and home a number of times, we understand how important it is to get the right fit happening and make things work. There is that basic side where you need to get a police check and do all the due diligence side for safety/security...but where most exchanges fail we feel is the real care factor and going that extra mile. That's some thing you wont need to fear at all with the both of us. Here is why; 1. We live by the motto of treat others like you want to be treated 2. We have rented our 'award winning' home in Melbourne in the past (which we have now sold) and have faced the pain and reality of things going very wrong (we understand the risk you are taking and want to make your experience seamless and pleasant as we have experienced the other side firsthand). 3. We have raving reviews with airbnb in the last 6 months in Europe on both our accounts and other reviews that date back longer than 2 years from our short and long distance travels. 4. We have held high positions in corporations and ran businesses of our own and we understand and emanate trust and goodwill in all human interactions as we know that is the foundation of all good things in this world. 5. Nothing is too hard for us as we are self starters and proactive. This may be a little old fashion but we are old souls and like things done properly always. We don't believe in short cuts.

Dia is a 32 Y OLD young man who has grown up with more than one German Shepherd and always owned a cat. Other than English he is also fluent in Greek. He enjoys the simple things in life...like a laugh, a quiet walk with a dog, good organic produce and a refreshing swim in the ocean. He is well versed in global politics and thoroughly enjoys his news... he is probably the youngest fella you will find in a coffee shop on a Saturday morning with his coffee and paper.

Aliah is a 34 Y O lady who has moved so many times growing up, due to her Expat parents, that she has lost count. This has enabled her to adapt to change and get comfortable wherever she is. Her first corporate job had her moving quite a bit and so she had her mother mind her Pug cross with Mini Fox, who never returned it as she fell madly in love with her (a true story). Other than English she speaks Indonesia, Malaysian, Hindi and Punjabi (a dialect of India) fluently. Much like Dia, she enjoys the simple things in life like a good cup of tea and a book, a good chat, singing, a swim in calm waters and cuddling new born animals from lambs, puppies and kittens...Aliah is also a bestselling author under the 'Teena Hamalis' name.

We are both currently working on a new project together at the moment on interracial relationships and you can check our new Instagram account on: 'thegreekandsikh'. Currently editing our first book associated with this project and also launching our website shortly.

We look forward to caring for your home, your garden, your animals and whatever else needs attention whilst you are experiencing the rewarding gifts that come with travelling. Most importantly we endeavour to give you absolute peace of mind while you are away from home.
