We are an English couple, Danielle and Peter, from Manchester, UK, both over 65 years of age (active and young at heart!).
We have been living in Australia since April 2022.
Most of our time we spend on The Sunshine Coast, Sippy Downs, with/near to our daughter and family. Some of the time in Darwin with/near to our son and family.
Both our children have lived permanently in Australia since 2012.
We both love animals and in the UK we had our own gorgeous family dog, Laston (she was the last of the litter!), for 16 years, from when she was 8 weeks old.
On many occasions, over many years, we looked after dogs and cats for family and friends.
Peter’s mum, unfortunately no longer with us, had a cat, ‘Tiger’, for 15 years, who we ‘cat sat’ regularly.
Danielle’s brother had a Staffy ‘Maddie’, who we also looked after regularly.
We have friends who live in Portugal, one of whom has a collie ‘Lassie’, who we have looked after over Christmas for several years, when our friend returns to the UK to spend Christmas with her family.
(Danielle found the stray dog, whilst on a morning walk, wandering the streets of the town and our friend rescued Lassie).
Until we retired we both worked full- time for over 30 years, Danielle as a Special Needs teacher and Peter as a printer.
We both like to keep fit and active by walking, swimming and gardening - weather permitting!
Since arriving on the Sunshine Coast, April 2022 we have been house/pet/grandma sitting for the majority of our time.
We mostly have experience caring for dogs but we have also looked after a few cats and other animals including budgies and fish.
We have cared for a variety of breed and temperament of dogs: small and larger dogs; dogs with specific medical, physical, dietary and emotional needs. e.g. requiring medication (both oral and topical) and special bathing We recently cared for a large dog, for several weeks, who has epilepsy. We have cared for several ‘rescue’ dogs.

In the UK we had beautiful gardens, which we created ourselves, as our home was a new build. We both love looking after plants and to garden (Danielle in particular) and would thoroughly enjoy looking after indoor plants and maintaining an outdoor garden/s; mowing the lawn, weeding, dead-heading flowers, watering the plants etc. if needed.
We are a very clean and tidy couple and are very used to spending time in other people’s homes as when we lived in the UK (pre Covid!) we would spend at least 4 months of every year abroad; mostly Australia, Bali, Tenerife and Portugal.
In Australia we would mostly stay with our family.
In Bali, Tenerife, Portugal and other places we would mostly book via owners websites such as Airbnb or VRBO (HomeAway). (Reviews in attachments).
We are both non-smokers (both never smoked).
We are thoroughly loving our house sitting as it enables us we can be near our daughter/son and families and it provides us, where needed, to enjoy the company of dogs, cats and other animals. We love that we can give the home owner/s peace of mind when they are away from home, knowing their home, pets, plants and gardens will be well loved and cared for.
