We are an experienced, mature, non-smoking, retired couple who enjoy travelling and living in different places, and who love animals. Our approach to house-sitting is to respect the trust placed in us, to look after your home as if it was our own and to return it to you in as good or better condition, and to give your pets the utmost attention and care, keeping them in the environment that they are happiest in.

Professionally, Rick was a Human Resources Manager and Vicki was an Executive Assistant. Our two grown children live in Tenterfield and Melbourne. Rick plays golf and cricket (and enjoys all sports), and Vicki loves painting and photography. We both enjoy walking and gardening. Rick is also a past member Rotary (including Club President, Assistant Governor).

In 2013, we both resigned from our jobs and sold the home (with extensive native garden) we had built in Echuca/Moama to spend time with a close relative in Queensland who was terminally ill. To this end, we were house sitting in and around the Gold Coast from September 2013 until May 2014, and have travelled and house/farm/pet/business sat solely until 2018, and have completed more than 40 house-sits. We have thoroughly enjoyed our pet and house sitting experiences, with the variety of locations, properties and pets. The opportunity to discover local culture and live as locals in the community is far more attractive to us than visiting as tourists, and we have made many good friends (humans and pets) along the way.

Our pet and house sitting experiences have taken us to Katherine in the Northern Territory, and up and down the east coast from Hervey Bay in Queensland to Franklin in southern Tasmania.

Properties have been many and varied, including small historic cottages, hobby farms from 5 acres up to 140 acres, waterfront homes, harbour apartments, and many others. We have also relief managed a B&B, a small marine business and a nursery. Responsibilities have included many and varied animals, both domestic and farm, along with pools, gardens and lawns, vegetable patches and small orchards.

Since 2018 we have been living in Woodbridge Tasmania, although we continue to house-sit from time to time.

Rick has also housesat in the UK in recent years as he resurrected a life long dream to play county cricket during the English summer.

Vicki will be visiting Jervis Bay up to Tenterfield, in the New England Area of NSW, from July to August 2024 to be near family. She would love to get back into housesitting, particularly during our Tasmanian winter, and has secured a house/petsit in May-June 2024. She would like to extend her time away, as she'll be driving from Tasmania to Tenterfield & back again.

We have attached house sitting references (including from many clients outside of Mindahome) and National Police Checks to our profile. Previous home-owners, a number of whom have asked us to do return sits or referred us to others, are also happy to be contacted as referees. We are always available to have a phone conversation or Skype.
