Hi there,
We are Wendy and Rob McDonald. A married couple of 33 years and also lucky enough to be semi-retired and enjoying the opportunities to travel and see many new and exciting places here in Australia and abroad. We have recently returned home to Mandurah after nearly 5 months travelling Australia, first in a caravan and then after selling the caravan in North Queensland (Long story, but caravanning is not for everyone). We then started experiencing house and pet sitting for people on residential and small rural properties. Where there was a variety of pets for us to sit as we weren't ready to go home just yet. It also gave us an opportunity to explore some of the small communities and attractions as we slowly headed back towards Western Australia and eventually home.
We found that we enjoyed the housesitting experience as well as the challenges that small rural properties face. Our favourite housesit was one in which we got very attached to. We cared for 4 adult dogs, 1 puppy, 1 cat, 3 horses and a Gallah. Feed and walk time became fun and was definitely an experience in itself.
We have our own home in Mandurah, Western Australia and whilst we were travel our daughters take care of our house and also look after our two Golden Retrievers, Hamish and our daughters 12 month old Golden Retriever Pippa. Now that we have returned home and our daughters are planning to stay with us for a while, we are available for more travels and house sitting.
We are both non-smokers and are reasonably fit. I am still working as a casual nurse and my husband is a retired emergency response officer also with a mechanical fitting background. We love animals and enjoy meeting new people and seeing new places. Rob and I both love to walk and enjoy spending time outdoors exploring coastal and picturesque scenery.
We are a houseproud and responsible couple with who don't mind the occasional dog or cat on the bed (if required). As golden retriever owners we are used to hair, drool and mess that animals can make but we look to animals as part of the family rather than pets.
If we sound like the perfect house sitters to care for your fur babies we would be open to meet or correspond via facetime or Skype so that you feel confident in your decision. Having had house sitters in our home before we understand that it can be a scary task but we ensure you, your pets are in the best possible care with two crazy animal lovers such as ourselves.
